May 2017: Spring Student Survey Data
Reflection
One of the most exhausting parts of teaching Language Arts is providing feedback on writing assignments. Far too often, we labor over these rough drafts and provide tons and tons of feedback, yet students will go and turn in the exact same document as their final draft. This year I was determined to continue providing meaningful feedback for my students, even though I know that their work habits don't always use that feedback. Much to my surprise, they noticed! I may have done a happy dance when I saw the results for question number 13 on the Student Survey.
February 2017: Fall Student Survey Data
Reflection
The fact that only six students responded to the Student Survey for Fall 2016 is a testament to the lack of motivation that I witnessed among my students for that semester. Truthfully, I found myself often discouraged by their lack of participation. Despite my best efforts in communication and attempts at creating engaging discussions and interactive synchronous sessions, most of my students simply did not interact. It was reassuring, though, to find that there were at least a few who felt that I was still an effective online instructor.
