Holiday Celebrations
As a District, we encourage students to make good choices around healthy eating and physical activity to promote positive outcomes. With the holidays around the corner, U-46 will continue this practice by promoting holiday celebrations with non-food items. To stay aligned with the USDA's Smart Snacks requirements, food-related celebrations or distribution of snacks to students to eat in the classroom during the school day will not be allowed. The USDA-defined school day hours are from midnight to 30 minutes after the end of the school day.

To celebrate, the Streamwood Fire Department has a coloring and poster contest. We hope all our students will participate. The supplies have been handed out by our teachers. The details are below.

Critical Information
Our teachers need your child's pick up information. Please share with them whether your child is a parent pick up, walker, turnabout pick up, Boys & Girls club or older sibling picking up.
If you are driving your child to or from school, you must use the turnabout on Streamwood Boulevard. Drivers must stay in their cars. Staff will escort your child to their line up location. There is no parking in the turnabout.
Reminder--The staff parking lot is for staff. No parent parking or drop off is allowed.
We encourage all our parents to walk their child to school on the first days to see the traffic and better understand how drop off and pick up work.
** In order for our process to work, it takes patience. **
Computer and Ipad
Computers that are not working can be switched out through the main office.
Please be sure to send your child to school everyday with a charged computer.

#UniteU46: Building Tour and Open House
The best way to understand the challenges faced by some of our U-46 school buildings is to see them yourself. As part of our Unite U-46 community engagement initiative, the District is hosting a building tour this Saturday and an open house next week. Members of the public are invited to attend either one or both of these events to get an inside look at up to seven of our school buildings and provide feedback on three different plans to move U-46 schools forward.
The building tour is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will travel on school buses from the U-46 Welcome Center, 1019 E. Chicago St. in Elgin, to three sites: Garfield Elementary School, Hilltop Elementary School, and Ellis Middle School. Space is limited for this option, reserve your spot today via this online form.
The open house is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants can stop by any or all of the following buildings for a self-guided tour: Eastview Middle School in Bartlett, Glenbrook Elementary School in Streamwood, Horizon Elementary School in Hanover Park, and Willard Elementary School in South Elgin. Attendees can also learn more about Unite U-46, talk with principals and school district leaders, and provide feedback about plans for the future of our schools.
More information about Unite U-46, including videos from past community presentations, can be found at UniteU46.org.
