Our Role as a Global Citizens
because we cant accomplish something this big alone
Help the Poor
- According to UNICEF, 20,000 children die every day because of poverty
- 27-28% of children in developing countries are underweight
- Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names
- Infectious diseases continue to blight the lives of the poor across the world. An estimated 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS, with 3 million deaths in 2004.
Number of children in the world---2.2 billion
Number in poverty---1 billion (every second child)
Its sad to think that some children don't have enough food to eat and meanwhile we throw away so much food that we don't eat. I think its our job to help third world countries because children shouldn't have to die just because they don't have food.
Education is also very important to me and a lot of other people, but not everybody in the world has access to it.
Theses are just a few of the global issues that are going on in the world. Theres a whole website with a list of the issues.
Africa
Africa accounts for 90 percent of malarial deaths and African children account for over 80 percent of malaria victims worldwide
UNICEF
UNICEF is a organization that provides help and aid to children living in struggling countries. They get donations from people who want to help.
Maybe my role as a global citizen will be to get involved in something important as this.
This is a video about UNICEF and what they do, its kind of long but has a lot of information.
