Dunn Families! As you know, we are proud to host one of Poudre School District's center-based programs for autism. We work to make sure that all of our students and families have a strong sense of belonging at Dunn, and that starts with understanding each other.
I would like to thank those of you who joined me in learning from Daisy Montgomery during our book study on her book, Autistic Everyday. We kicked off this month with an inclusive assembly. Below, you will find information about this assembly and a link to watch it at home with your families. (I plan to stream it to my TV with my boys this weekend.) Please ask your children what they learned.
We will have weekly lessons each Friday during our Global Citizenship blocks in classrooms to further learn more about our autistic friends and how to be more authentically inclusive.

Staff FAQs for an Inclusive Assembly
Why a recorded assembly?
This provides the opportunity for all of our learners to be in their comfortable learning space without the sensory overload that can accompany the lights, sounds, open space and large groups of a whole-school assembly in the gym.
Should we all try to watch it at 9:10am, like a regular assembly schedule?
No. Please consider your neurodivergent thinkers in your classroom and determine the least impactful time slot to watch this assembly. Schedule changes throw many of us off as humans, and especially those of us who think differently.
What if I am not a homeroom teacher?
Block off a committed time in your day on Friday to watch this assembly, either with a classroom or on your own. This is an exciting kickoff that we all are a part of.
Dunn Spirit Gear
