Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
April 5, 2019
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
Even though the school year is winding down, it is a critical time of the academic year. The various mandated testing programs are critical for your student(s) success and district success. I do hope you make time to discuss and encourage academic success with your student(s). Fulton Faculty members have high expectations for all FPS students, however, as a parent, you are the most important influence in creating high expectations for your child(ren).

The Facilities Planning Process is well underway with the firm of Hollis+Miller. March 21, 2019, was the first of three Community Forums. Many ideas were generated and direction was established to develop a survey format for your input. A link for the survey will be distributed and posted on the FPS website. All planning documents are posted on the FPS website under Facilities or you may click https://tinyurl.com/y3tk7oka
Most may be aware that three of the five building principals are changing for the coming (2019-2020) school year. Mrs. Epperson and Mrs. Engle at Bartley and Bush Elementary Schools are retiring upon completion of this school year. Mrs. Engle has given 28 years and Mrs. Epperson has given 29 years of service to FPS. High School Principal Chris Mincher has accepted an opportunity at the Fort Zumwalt School District, where he graduated. We will miss each of them, but do wish them well! Ms. Teri Quick has been selected as the Bartley Principal and searches are in process for the other positions.
Finally please note Career Technical Education Survey that follows. Governor Parson’s office has requested your input on the future of Career Technical Education (CTE) in Missouri. I encourage you to participate.
Thank you for sending great students for us to work with!
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.

Career and Technical Education Survey
Governor Mike Parson has indicated that preparing students for Missouri’s 21st-century workforce is a top priority in the state. Opportunities abound in today’s economy for students who attain some type of specialized technical skill, an industry-recognized credential or post-secondary training. All of these can be accomplished by attending Career and Technical Education Programs (CTE) around the state.
We believe CTE programming is underutilized by Missouri’s students, so we are trying to find out why. We want to know how our current CTE programming is perceived by students, parents, and guardians, business leaders, school counselors and other educators as school districts consider adding courses in CTE and encouraging more students to enroll in these programs.
The CTE Advisory Council, established in Section 178.550.1, RSMo, has developed a survey to gather feedback on people’s perceptions about CTE. Once the results of the survey have been analyzed, the Advisory Council’s goal is to develop and implement a comprehensive statewide communications and marketing campaign to improve public confidence in CTE and to increase the number of students participating in the programming.
You will find the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CTE-DESE.
Please complete the survey by end of day April 12th.
Congratulations!
