Driveway Shift
We will have a slight lane shift to the driveway on the north side of the building. In order to pour the footings for the new locker room facility at the football field construction site, crews will need to excavate, grade, and pour the concrete footings. Please see the attached photo for the area that will be impacted.
Because of this shift, the lanes will be more narrow in order to make room for a barriered student walking path. Please DRIVE SLOWLY through this area of the driveway. This shift will be in place for the duration of construction on the field.

Unity Day - October 18, 2023
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. In addition to discussing ways students can prevent and respond to bullying during Statesmen Time this week, Hixson students and staff are encouraged to wear Orange on Wednesday, October 18 to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
Hixson has advanced to the Seedling Level of the MO Green Schools Program!
At Hixson Middle School, we are committed to improving health, lowering environmental impact, and providing place-based education for Hixson students through the Missouri Green Schools (MGS) program. Because of this commitment, I am pleased to announce that Hixson Middle School has advanced to the MGS Seedling Level, which means we bring green and healthy improvements to our campus, curriculum, and culture. Thank you to Mr. Hayes, Hixson's Sustainability teacher, and all of the amazing and dedicated students in our Sustainability program for their work in making the world a better place. Please see the quote below from Mr. Hayes!
“The students at Hixson Middle School have stepped up and started making meaningful
changes in both our building as well as our community. Learning about, and putting into
place action plans that have a positive impact on their surroundings such as creating a
classroom recycling program and creating a large outdoor sustainable classroom area.
We plan to continue our learning journey, one step at a time, trying our best to make
positive differences in the lives of those around us.” Eric Hayes, Hixson Middle School

Student Attendance
Student attendance is crucial to academic success. Hixson administrators and counselors have been monitoring student attendance and will be providing support to students who have an attendance rate of less than 80%. You may hear from your child's grade level admin and counseling team as they welcome your child back to school and create a plan to improve your child's attendance, if necessary.
Book Fair: October 9 - 18!
