Welcome Casceila Miller, Assistant Principal at Lewis and Clark Middle School
The Yakima School District is proud to welcome Casceila Miller as Assistant Principal at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
Casceila Miller come to us from the Thorp School District, where she has served for the last eight years as a fifth grade teacher and more recently as the Instructional Lead FieldSTEM as part of her administrative internship, which she competed in March. Prior to her time in Thorp, she was a fifth and sixth grade teacher in the Wahluke School District from 2006-2014 and she also served as Reading Interventionist with Seattle Public Schools at Mercer Middle School from 2009-2010. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-8 in 2005 from Central Washington University, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in 2013 from Western Governor’s University, and her Principal Certification from Eastern Washington University in 2022. She is also holds a National Board Certificate in Early and Middle Childhood English-Language Arts.
Casceila brings with her a wealth of experience in instructional leadership at all levels, particularly surrounding the structuring and successful functioning of PLCs. She has been highly accomplished with increasing student achievement, particularly in English-Language Arts. She has also assisted in the implementation of multiple initiatives, most recently the incorporation of outdoor education into school curriculum, which includes the receipt of the STEM Lighthouse Grant and the Pacific Education Institute (PEI) District of the Year for work with vertical instructional alignment. Additionally, she has worked to create after-school intervention and enrichment programs for students based on individual learning needs.
Casceila is excited to join the Yakima School District and become a part of the Yakima community. She looks forward to getting to know the students and families at Lewis and Clark and forming positive relationships.
Casceila comes from Ellensburg with her family. She and her husband have two children, an incredibly artistic 13-year-old daughter and an energetic eight-year-old son. She is an avid runner and can often be found somewhere in the wild on the weekends with her running shoes on. She also loves hiking and gardening, and just about anything that takes her outside.
