A letter from our principals
This is the time of year when staff begin thinking about classroom placements for the coming school year. This is a very delicate process, which takes into account many factors in an effort to create the best possible learning environment for each child.

Amazing author visit! (+ book orders still open)
All Wescott students enjoyed an AMAZING visit Thursday from author Marc Colagiovanni & award-winning author-illustrator Peter Reynolds, who discussed their collaboration "The Reflection in Me." Marc and Peter took so much time looking at all of the students' artwork in the halls and the library - they felt very welcomed by our Wolves! If your child did not get a chance to order a book, you can still do so here.
Summer school seeks high school volunteers
Hooray for a successful round of summer school registration! We are grateful and pleased to welcome your children to the District 30 Summer School program. If your child is currently waitlisted for a course, we are working to get as many students as possible into classes of their choice. Thank you for your patience!
Parents of graduating 8th-graders or current high school students: our volunteer application is now open! Throughout the years, summer school has been a great opportunity for older students to work with kids, develop interpersonal skills, and give back to the District 30 community.
For more information and to complete the application, have your child click this link or the button below.
Lost and found
Our lost and found is in need of another clean-up. Please, take a look at the bins located in the vestibule for a chance of reclaiming your lost belongings. We will be donating unclaimed items on Thursday, March 21.
From the Wescott PTO
The new Wescott Spring into Reading Challenge has begun!
The challenge is underway! During this month-long reading challenge hosted by the Wescott PTO, we are promoting a love of reading; encouraging students to explore and expand their knowledge; and fostering connection, kindness and understanding of people who may be different from ourselves.
Just 20 minutes of reading will earn students a prize, but the more minutes your student reads, the more they can earn and win! As an added bonus, the grade with the highest percentage of students completing at least 200 minutes of reading will win an extra recess!
We’ve also been hearing great feedback and have been asked about reading beyond the 300 minutes/five hours suggested. We love the enthusiasm! If your child is enjoying the reading challenge and would like to read more, each additional 300 minutes read will earn another entry in the drawing for the $100 Amazon gift card. (i.e. 600 minutes read will earn two entries in the Amazon gift card drawing, 900 minutes = 3 entries, then every 300 minutes thereafter up to a limit of 5 entries.)
Please note: additional entries apply only to the Amazon gift card drawing. Nickel City game card and bookmark prizes remain at one per student.
Completed game cards are due back to your child’s classroom on Tuesday, April 9.
