Grade 3 Weather Report Video Narration Project
Mr. Badger and Mrs. Mauer are collaborating on a fresh project with their students. Together, they're delving into the world of weather topics using Canva to craft engaging videos. The students have diligently researched their chosen subjects and developed scripts for their recordings.
Today marked an exciting milestone as they learned to incorporate background videos that complement their weather themes. Additionally, they discovered how to integrate a reporter character into the foreground of their videos, adding depth and storytelling flair.
In the upcoming session, the focus will shift to recording voiceovers to accompany their visuals, enhancing the narrative. Furthermore, they'll explore the addition of introductory music to set the tone before their narration begins.
Grade 4 Creating Digital Board Games for Math Review
Mr. Badger and Mrs. Waddicor have been co-teaching with their math cluster, engaging students in an immersive project. Working in small groups, students were assigned the task of selecting a digital board game template. They then collaborated to develop questions and answers aligned with specific math topics assigned to them.
The overarching aim was to craft digital board games tailored to aid future fourth-grade classes in revising various math concepts. This project demanded the application of critical thinking and collaborative skills from the students.
Today, the students transitioned into testers, evaluating the final games created by other groups. They meticulously examined each game, noting any potential areas for improvement. These observations will be shared with the original groups to facilitate necessary adjustments.
Once finalized, these digital games will be distributed to other teachers for immediate use with current students and will also be valuable resources for incoming fourth graders.
The accompanying images depict today's class engaged in small group reviews of the games, where effective collaboration skills were once again utilized to accomplish the task at hand.
Grade 4 Activates: Empowering Dighton's Community Through Learning"
Mrs. Grillo's 4th graders took their learning to the next level by putting it into action. After working on a reading unit centered around community care, they decided to make a tangible difference. Collecting food and personal items, they collaborated with the Dighton Lions who picked up the donations. Student-driven from start to finish, a few core students initiated the idea, while the entire class contributed to its execution. They sought permission from Mrs. Desert, created posters, and promoted the initiative via morning announcements. Their dedication paid off, culminating in a visit from Superintendent Runey who awarded them with the Community Service Belt. It was a proud moment for both the students and Mrs. Grillo.
