LAKE FENTON HIGH SCHOOL
SENIOR NEWSLETTER 2024
LFHS Senior Newsletter
Hello Lake Fenton Families,
Our senior countdown has begun and the days that your senior will walk the halls of LFHS as a student are winding down. There are still many amazing memories and experience yet to be had in the month of May! This newsletter is filled with important events for you and your child.
As we approach the final commencement and conclusion of your child's high school career, I encourage you to take time to reflect on the amazing journey they have taken to young adulthood.
In closing, I want to express how incredibly proud I am of the young adults your children have become. Their growth, resilience and determination have been truly inspiring. As we look ahead to their final commencement, I can't wait to see what the future holds for each and every one of them. Go Blue Devils!
Proud Principal,
Kate VanHouten Ed. S

Senior Class Events & Graduation
Senior Class T-Shirts!
The Senior Class T-Shirt design has been chosen! ALL SENIORS will be given a free Senior Class T-shirt regardless of their participation in Project Graduation. Please be sure to get your shirt size to Joslyn Stalo or Sophie Zalac to ensure the right fit.
How many Commencement tickets will each family receive?
Family members with tickets will be allowed early entry into the athletic fields for graduation on May 31st starting at 5:30 PM. Gates will open for all other attendees at 6:00 PM with commencement starting at 6:30 PM. Seniors must be present at graduation no later than 5:30 PM and will park separately from all other attendees in order to line up according to commencement seating. We will also be taking our Senior Class Picture at 5:30PM SHARP in front of the high school with Nick Ellison Photography. These will be provided free of charge to all families and will be sent out via email. Parents should remain in their seats so that we can begin graduation on time. Thank you!

FAFSA APPLICATION, MICHIGAN ACHIEVEMENT & GENESEE GO SCHOLARSHIP
FAFSA and Michigan Achievement Scholarships
There is a new state scholarship program known as MAS (Michigan Achievement Scholarships). This program offers up to $5,500 per year for college – including community colleges and trade/skills institutions. Most students in Michigan will qualify – AS LONG AS THEY COMPLETE THE FAFSA. Completing the FAFSA is the only way to access the MAS funds.
Genesee Go Scholarship available for ALL SENIORS!
The Genesee Opportunity application window opened October 1st this year for 2024 seniors! As most students are eligible for this award, we encourage ALL Seniors to apply. Students can apply using the following link: Home - Genesee Opportunity (geneseego.org)
SENIOR EXITS AND VOLUNTEER HOURS
Seniors need 10 Community Service Hours from at least 2 different nonprofit/public organizations. No more than 4 hours per event can be counted, so at least 3 different events/occasions are required. These are due by April 3rd and should be included in senior exit presentations.
Senior Exit Presentations will take place in English Classes during April and May and Senior ELA teachers will email invites to parents who would like to attend their child's presentation. We encourage you to come see your senior exit presentation!
