Brown Bears
Your Weekly Update from Brown Elementary School
Mr. McCann's Message
Dear Families,
We're excited to inform you about the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024! This rare celestial event offers a unique learning opportunity for our students to explore the wonders of space and science. To ensure their safety while viewing the eclipse, all students at Brown will receive eclipse viewing glasses. These glasses are ISO approved and specially designed to protect their eyes during the event.
While viewing the eclipse can be a fascinating experience, it's essential to take precautions to ensure everyone's safety. We encourage you to discuss the solar eclipse with your child and review these safety guidelines together. Additionally, our school will provide educational resources and activities to enhance students' understanding of this extraordinary event.
Since this event is occurring right at dismissal time on April 8th, we are not offering any kind of community-wide viewing experience here on our property. Instead, we encourage you to talk about this with your child and use the glasses to view the eclipse with them if you have the opportunity.
Best,
Aidan McCann, Principal

3 - 4th to 5th GRADE TRANSITION
Each year our 4th grade team and the KMS team collaborate to put together a transition process for our 4th grade students as they get ready to enter the 5th grade. I am sharing the transition timeline here so that you can see what happens over the next few months that will help students wrap up their time here at Brown and begin their new adventure at KMS.
4 - CONFERENCES
Our 2nd set of conferences for the year begin next Wednesday, April 3rd. Please keep an eye out for an e-mail from your teacher about signing up for a time slot to meet and discuss your child's progress over the course of the year.
5 - NATICK SUMMER PROGRAMS
Students will enjoy week-long courses for enrichment, exploration, and fun–right here in Natick! The Summer Enrichment and Summer Scholars programs will allow your children to explore their interests and help prevent summer slide. Pre-approved students are welcomed into the Extended School Year (ESY) program and the High School Credit Recovery Program. Our Strength and Conditioning Program provides dynamic exercises and drills from some of the best coaches in the area.
Registration through Active.com is open now. Our popular Summer Enrichment program courses include Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Pondology, Chemistry, Sports, and much more. Students from rising Kindergarteners up through rising 8th graders are grouped by grade level.
NEW THIS YEAR: All participants in Summer Enrichment and Summer Scholars will receive a complete schedule of classes (subject to availability) running from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. every day. Join us this summer! Access our dedicated website for more information.
