Raider Nation Review
August 26, 2021
*Health & Safety*
In-home Exposure
Wylie ISD highly recommends and encourages students and staff who are close contacts due to an in-home exposure complete a stay-at-home period of 10 days. Collin County Health and TEA recommend that an individual can return to campus/work following 10 days if no symptoms have occurred. Individuals who have been vaccinated or have had a positive COVID-19 test within 90 days are not considered close contacts, even if they have been exposed to a positive individual.
Non-Family Campus Visitors
Mentors and other non-family visitors can be a vital part of building relationships with our kiddos. With the recent surge from the Delta variant, we are postponing all non-family visitors to campuses. This is only temporary and will be reinstated as soon as possible.

WEHS Softball Info:
Calling all students interested in playing softball this year! If you are currently in a different sport, or considering trying out for the softball team, please come see Coach McNulty in room 946 by this Friday August 27th! There will be a fall softball league beginning in September and we would like all interested softball players involved if possible. This would be a great way to gain experience and give the coaching staff a chance to see you play! We are also interested in finding a team manager that would be committed and willing to do a great job. This person would need to be organized, responsible, and willing to attend all team events and games. See Coach McNulty if you are interested! Thank you!
Attention NHS Members:
Be sure that you are looking in our NHS Google Classroom (the same one from last year) to sign up for upcoming service events. We have had several events and not a lot of members are signing up. Col. McFarland wanted Raider Nation to know that the commander of the U.S. Air Force’s Air University, Brigadier General Leslie Maher, sent him a letter last week recognizing Wylie East’s ROTC unit for persevering as one of the top Air Force JROTC units in the nation despite the challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, all of our cadets who were enrolled in ROTC last year have earned the AFJROTC Resiliency Award to wear on their uniforms.
SkillsUSA News: Wylie East Senior Lindsey Lanman attended her second round of SkillsUSA National Officer Training this past weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska, and positions were announced. Raider Nation is so proud to announce Lindsey will be the SkillsUSA National Vice-President for the 2021 – 2022 school year. Congratulations to Lindsey on this monumental achievement! She is RFL!!!

--And Coach Gold would like to congratulate the following athletes who were voted as Varsity Team Captains by their teammates! Josh Hollingsworth, Marcus Harbert, Andrew Acuna, Maddox Fraley, Terrell Washington, Jr., Zane Brown, and Caden Roeschen.
From Ms. Townsend:
Stephanie Cruz-Castillo (12th), was in the library and acted as a translator to help us help a parent. She helped her through the entire online registration process and was so, so patient, kind, and helpful! We couldn’t have done it without her!!
Varsity Tennis Celebrations: In their first 2021 district match in team tennis, the varsity Raider tennis team exterminated the Denison Yellow Jackets in a 13 to 6 WIN!!!
JV tennis travels to Denison on Thursday for our first JV district match of the season.
Varsity travels to Lovejoy next Tuesday. Let’s goooo, Raider tennis!
From Mrs. Lopez: received a call from a gentleman that happens to be a worker we have on campus. His tire had popped last week when he was driving home and he ended up at 7-11 at 205 and 78. Two brothers, Mark and Henry Moslener , saw that he was having trouble, came over, and started helping him and assisted in changing his tire. He said they didn’t leave until the job was done. He was so impressed that he wanted to share with Administrators and most of all Coaches. It made him so proud to know that the campus he had been working on for months, has such kind and caring students. These Raiders ARE the Wylie Way! #RFL
