What's Happening?
Spring Musical- THIS WEEK!!!
The show is Thursday, March 28th; Friday, March 29th; and Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 7pm with a matinee on Saturday the 30th at 1pm.
Tickets will be $12 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets are available at the door!

Blood Drive, Monday April 1, 2019:
The National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive for the Red Cross on Monday, April 1st between 8:30am-1:30pm. Parents are encouraged to donate blood.
The AP & Honors Art Show:
The reception will be held in the HS auditorium lobby on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:30-8:00pm. The show will include work by all of our advanced art students. Refreshments will be served and all students, staff, families and friends are welcome. Please join us!

Announcement from the School Nurse:
Thank you to all who handed your physicals in to the nurse!
If you have not done so, please hand in a copy of your physical exam and your immunization record to the nurse immediately. If you have a driver’s permit or license, you would have had a physical exam completed.Additionally, you will need a second meningitis vaccine prior to starting your senior year, as it is a state requirement. Thank you!

Senior/Baby Pictures:
We'd like to gather baby pictures from the Seniors of the Class of 2019 for a slideshow pre-graduation. If possible, please upload a baby pictures of your senior here. LM PTA Scholarships:
In addition to funding senior scholarships chosen by LMHS faculty/administration, LM PTA will also choose 3 seniors for LM PTA scholarships based on their answer to the question: "How have your years at Lower Moreland influenced you? / What will you take with you as you hope to influence others from these years?"
We hope that you would encourage your senior to apply for this scholarship. The application is available via Naviance, this link or on the PTA website. Deadline to apply: April 15, 2019

Congrats!
- The Mock Trial team, led by Seniors Mathew Chemplayil and Jacob Leon, have made the finals of the state Mock Trial Tournament. On March 29 & 30, they travel to Harrisburg to compete against the top 14 teams in the state. The Mock Trial program is coordinated by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and involves over 300 teams statewide. This is the third time in the past four years that Lower Moreland Mock Trial has made it to the finals as one of the top teams in the state. Winner of the finals goes on to compete at nationals in Atlanta. The team is coached by local attorney Ken Brodsky, and Social Studies teacher, John Haldeman.
- On March 22nd, students in the Gifted Program at the High School attended the Penn International Relations Conference at the University of Pennsylvania. The theme of the conference this year was Eastern Europe. Students were able to meet His Excellency Pjer Simunovic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to the United States. Students attended a lecture by Professor and Chair of Russian and Eastern European Studies, Mitchell Orenstein. He shared research from his new book, "The Lands in Between: Russia vs. the West and the New Politics of Hybrid War". After the morning sessions, students broke into smaller groups to debate issues such as public health, economic development, environment, foreign relations, governance, power politics and human rights.

Rauf and Elizabeth won the Luther M. Bingaman 2nd Place Award in 12th Grade for the most cumulative points.
All five students will move on to compete at the Delaware Valley Science Fair!
Guidance Department
Reminder: Seniors, please make sure that you are checking both the Senior Classroom “Financial Aid / Scholarship” announcements and Naviance for any scholarship opportunities as deadlines are nearing.
School counselors will be meeting with each student over the next 2 weeks to review course recommendations and selections for the 2019-20 school year. All requests to change elective choices are due by May 1st.
Mrs. Forcina will be sending invoices to all of our AP students. Please keep an eye out for this mailing. Payment can be made directly through My School Bucks and /or via check (made payable to Lower Moreland High School). AP exams begin on Monday, May 6th. With the exception of those students only submitting an AP studio art portfolio, all AP students will be required to attend a pre-administration session. Pre-administration sessions will be held on Tuesday, 4/23 and Thursday, 4/25 at 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the LMHS Auditorium.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 the School Counseling Department will be presenting “Meet the College Rep Night,” the final component of our five-part college planning series for juniors. The program will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium with a “College Admissions Panel” representing 9 private and public colleges and universities and one specialty area. You and your junior student will then have an opportunity to attend two separate college admissions presentations led by the two Colleges of your choice. A mailer will be sent home with registration information.

Social Studies Department
Student's in Mr. Richmond's economics class had an opportunity to use the district's virtual reality headsets. Students used iPods, Google's Expeditions software, virtual reality headsets, and a custom tailored virtual reality tour to explore a variety of corporate headquarters from around the world. Students were asked to analyze the structures and use their analysis to come to conclusions about what kind of image each company is trying to project to the public.
Athletics Updates
Congratulations to our Boys Basketball team who advanced to the PIAA 4A State Semi-Finals. The team was defeated by Bonner Prendie last Monday evening. No team in school history has advanced as far as this years group, and they have made the school and community very proud.

PTA News

Congratulations to Maeve McErlean for winning the LMPTA Junior Prom Raffle. Maeve won two tickets to Junior Prom, hair and makeup at Alley Cats Hair Studio, $50 gift certificate from the Men's and Boys Store and flowers from Domenic Graziano.
Senior Prom raffle tickets are still available. One lucky senior will receive two tickets to Senior Prom, free tux rental at the Men's and Boys Store, hair and makeup at Salon LaVogue and flowers from Domenic Graziano. Raffles can be purchased online through April 7th.
LMHS PTA is pleased to announce the Bredenbeck's Bakery Loaf Cake Fundraiser. Order cakes through May 1st for delivery in time for Mother's Day! Pound cake, Chocolate Chip Loaf Cake, or Raspberry Swirl (all with vanilla icing) are $15 each. Order online or print the paper form and send to any LM School.
Membership
There is strength in numbers and we need your support! Please join Lower Moreland PTA and help support our schools. Membership dues are $15 per family. Dues collected are put back into our schools to enhance programs and to benefit all of our children. Every family that joins LMPTA this year will get a "Proud PTA Member" magnet. Joining is easy....just print out a form, or pay online with PayPal.
Giant A+ Rewards
Our local GIANT store is running a school-fundraising program, A+ School Rewards, and we need YOUR help! Every time you shop at a participating GIANT from October 5 through March 21 using your BONUSCARD, you will earn points towards our school . . . those points will become CASH that our school can use for any of our educational needs!
All you need to do to help Lower Moreland High School earn A+ School Rewards is to designate our school using your BONUSCARD number and our school’s five-digit ID code, 23619. If you were registered last year, no need to register again. Designations can be made on-line at GiantFoodStores.com/aplus. These funds go directly to the school and you can designate up to two schools in your account.
