Mrs. Smith's Healthy Habits Challenge
If your student(s) completed the Week 2 Healthy Habits Challenge: Perform a random act of kindness, please have them return their slip (or note of completion) to the Healthy Habits box in the gym before Tuesday afternoon. These notes will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a weekly prize.
Congratulations to Mischa from Mrs. Koschnick's class for winning the April Week 1 prize!
The Healthy Habits Challenge is a program that encourages students and families to have conversations about, and practice, healthy habits at home. This year’s program will run February through May with a new Healthy Habit Challenge each week. Examples of challenges include: a) Wash your hands before meals 5 days this week. b) Brush your teeth before going to bed and before school 5 days this week.
Week 3 (April 15-April 21):
Eat one whole grain food 5 days.
Parent Input Opportunity for the 2024-25 School Year
This optional survey is designed to help our Hawthorne team collect your valuable parent/guardian input on your child/ren as a learner. The information you provide will assist our staff as we consider placement decisions for 2024-2025. Thank you for your support and for helping us in this process!
*Please note that we can not accept requests for specific teachers and forms submitted with those comments must be discarded.
Please complete one form for each child attending Hawthorne next fall (who will be in grades 1-5).
This form must be submitted no later than Friday, April 19.
Please reach out to Cate with any questions!
Hawthorne Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
Our Hawthorne Parent Advisory Council (PAC) enhances the educational experience of Hawthorne students by financing a variety of programs as well as upgrading our facility and materials.
If you are a Hawthorne Parent or Guardian, you are automatically part of the PAC!
The PAC is integral to the ongoing success of Hawthorne operations and special initiatives. We hope you’ll consider volunteering and/or supporting PAC events and fundraisers. All support is appreciated and so important to maintaining our amazing school.

Volunteer Information
At Hawthorne, we treasure the ability to include volunteers in supporting student learning and activities! If you might be interested in volunteering in our community in some way this year, please see the district's Volunteer Website to read the handbook and complete the disclosure forms for our office.
Note: A volunteer is considered supervised when in the classroom, or when in the presence of a BSD7 employee. A volunteer is considered “unsupervised” when not always in the presence of a BSD7 employee (for example, on a cross country ski outing). If you plan to accompany a class as an unsupervised volunteer, please complete one of these online applications. Please note these can take several weeks to process. If you have any questions or troubles with the process, please contact me! As always, thanks for being part of our school community and supporting our students.
Project Connect: Please contact Lauren Dee (laurenwing@yahoo.com) to learn how a few minutes a day or week as a Project Connect volunteer can impact the connection and wellbeing of all Hawthorne students!

Please Note: Smart watches or watches with phone/communication capabilities will be expected to stay home or remain in backpacks until dismissal. Thank you for your support and understanding.
