MAP TESTING
- Tuesday, March 05: MAP Reading Assessment
- Thursday, March 07: MAP Math Assessment
Preparation Tips: To ensure you are at your best for these assessments, please consider the following tips:
Get Plenty of Sleep:
- Aim for a good night's sleep before each assessment day. Being well-rested is crucial for optimal cognitive performance.
Eat a Hearty Breakfast:
- Start the day with a nutritious breakfast. A well-fueled body supports concentration and focus.
Bring Headphones (Thursday - Math Assessment):
- For the math assessment on Thursday, all students are encouraged to bring headphones. The universal read-aloud feature can be an excellent tool to enhance comprehension.
Stay Positive:
- Approach the assessments with a positive mindset. Remember, these assessments are an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and skills.
Arrive On Time:
- Ensure you arrive at school on time to start the assessments promptly. Being punctual allows you to settle in and approach the assessments calmly.
OPTIONAL - SUMMER MATH ACCELERATION PROGRAM
Preparations for the 2024-25 school year are in full swing. If you are interested in learning more about your child participating in a summer learning opportunity to advance a grade level in math, a parent meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 13, from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM, at CMS, in the LGIR. This is ONLY FOR STUDENTS ENTERING 6th, 7th, or 8th GRADE for the upcoming 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR. A detailed letter will be sent home next week outlining this program.
MARCH 04 - FAMILY NIGHT - NO HW
Monday, March 4th is Family Fun night. No homework will be assigned and no school activities after 5:00 giving students and families time to relax. Community favorites, Buckeye Chocolate, and Jersey Mike's are offering families a discount on food or beverage items. See the flyer below.
Enjoy your weekend.

ECLIPSE - NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
There will be NO school for PK-12 students on Monday, April 8, 2024, — the day of the highly anticipated Total Solar Eclipse. In lieu of attending school, the District highly encourages students to safely enjoy the Total Solar Eclipse as this is certain to be an extraordinary and memorable scientific event to observe.
FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT
Please consider joining us for an evening of literacy fun! The highlight of the evening will be a presentation from Malcom Mitchell. Malcolm is a native of Valdosta, Georgia. As a high school senior, he was an Under Armour All American and went on to finish in the top 10 all-time receivers during his playing career at the University of Georgia (UGA). After graduating from UGA with a degree in Communication Studies in 2015, Malcolm was drafted by the New England Patriots, becoming a Super Bowl Champion in 2017. Malcolm speaks on topics including the power of literacy, overcoming adversity and teamwork.
PAPER TOWEL DRIVE - BUILDERS CLUB
CMS Builders Club is hosting a paper towel drive March 11th-15th for Rescue Village. Rescue Village is Geauga County’s humane society and takes care of animals year round. Rolls of paper towels are an important resource for Rescue Village as they care for animals in need. Last year, Builders Club collected over 350 rolls of paper towels. Let’s see if we can beat it this year!
Each advisory will collect rolls of paper towels all week. The four classes that collect the most rolls of paper towels will win free time in advisory. Please contact Amanda Weaver amanda.weaver@chardonschools.org if you have any questions.
MENTAL SKILLS: HOW TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOU
Join us for this discussion on mental wellness and mental skills training. Mr. Spacek has extensive experience working with students and student athletes as a teacher, coach, and professional counselor. This will be an interactive evening helping you develop a game ready routine for success to help you reach your goals.

MOCK TRIALS
6th graders participated in "Mock Trials" within the last two weeks in English Language Arts. Classes read stories together where the guilt of the main character was in question. Roles were assigned to everyone, including: defendant, prosecution attorneys, defense attorneys, jury members, witnesses and even bailiff. Mrs. Quinn and Miss Kovalkevich presided as judges over the sessions. With the support of Social Studies teachers, Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Holub, students learned about the judicial branch of our government. Students researched and then penned their arguments for court. In a fun day of debate, guilty and innocent parties were declared. Justice was served!
