Types of Tissue
Epithelial, Muscle, Connective, and Nervous
Epithelial
The functions of epithelial tissue are protection, absorption, filtration and excretion, secretion, and sensory perception.
There are 3 shape classifications: squamous, cuboidal, and columnar. There are 2 cell arrangements: simple and stratified.
Connective Tissue
There are 6 types of connective tissue: bone, cartilage, adipose, blood, dense, and loose. Connective tissue supports, connects, and binds structures and protects and cushions organs and tissues.
Muscle Tissue
Muscle tissue has 3 types: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac. Muscle tissue gives us movement of the body, synchronous contractions of the heart beat, and movement of blood, food, and waste through the body's organs.
Nervous Tissue
Nervous tissue can be found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The main functions of nervous tissue are transmitting impulses, support, and insulating and protecting neurons.
Defense
I believe that muscle tissue is the best type for it's locations such as the skeleton, heart, and walls of the organs. Without muscle tissue, we would not be allowed movement of our body parts and our hearts may not contract properly.
