Newsletter - 4th March 2022
Dear all,
Welcome to Term 4. This term brings PPEs (Pre-Public Exams) for Year 11 and Year 13, which gives the opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and for us to identify gaps ready for the final preparations for the external exams this year. Coursework and assignments for BTEC and vocational courses are well underway. Year 12 and Year 10 feedback through parents consultation evenings also feature.
With Covid taking a back seat we are now opening up opportunities for students to engage with employers on site and have some trips and visits planned. We have an exciting trip to New York with an Engineering, Computer Science and Business focus for Years 11, 12, & 13. A trip to see Macbeth for Key Stage 4 students is about to be released and we have a group of students visiting the Kingsgrove site on Monday to look at the construction Industry. Watch out for the other opportunities that are in the offering as each one will be advertised in a separate e-mail to relevant year groups.
Employer Engagement news
BMW were onsite this week delivering their second learning seminar. We heard from a data analyst and a young apprentice and how their day to day and working week impact the business.
REME (Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Army Core) came on site to work with our Year 13 Engineers on their engineering project and we have a group of students working with the Royal Navy for the Industrial Cadetship Awards competition.
In addition to this, FMB-Oxford are working with a group of science students on a synchrotron project.
Maths Challenge
We are proud to announce the results and successes of the students in Year 10 and 11. Thank you to Nichola for facilitating.
The results have come in for the Intermediate Maths Challenge. Skye and Jack are through to the Pink Kangaroo on the 17th March.
