5th Grade Parents!!- Applications are NOW open for Schools of Choice
Is your fifth grader interested in attending one of Spring ISD’s schools of choice for middle school? If so, the online application opens on Monday, Nov. 2.
In addition to the specialty programs and exciting learning pathways available to Spring ISD students at their neighborhood campus, the district also offers two middle schools of choice, helping ensure that every family can find the best fit for their student.
Both Roberson Middle School, with its STEM and fine arts programs, and Spring Leadership Academy, where a small-campus setting is paired with a range of leadership and personal growth opportunities, offer several exciting options for students to consider.
You can learn more about all of the district’s schools of choice, and view frequently asked questions about the application process, at springisd.org/choice. Families can easily apply to multiple schools using a single online application. The deadline for applying is Dec. 18, 2020 at midnight.

Report Cards Have Been Loaded into HAC
We also have several students who are currently struggling and have as a result received failing grades. We want to ensure that parents receive the grades to be aware of their scholars current achievement. Please review the grades in HAC, and contact your scholar's teacher to discuss grades, concerns and next steps.
Parents please remember this year all work is mandatory and students will not pass if their work is not complete.

Keeping our Students Healthy and Hydrated during the School Day
Parents, please remember to send a refillable water bottle with your student to school every day.
We know how important it is for our kids to stay hydrated, and we are offering plenty of opportunities for them to refill their bottles throughout the day at designated sinks.
If your child forgets their bottle, don’t worry. We have water bottles available, so they won’t go thirsty. For health and safety reasons, we have limited access to our campus water fountains, but we’re continuously evaluating when it’s safe to re-open them. We are currently looking at the feasibility of designating a few water fountains as additional refilling stations.
Our goal is to get all of our students in the habit of bringing a refillable water bottle so we can make sure they stay hydrated throughout the day. We also want to do our part to keep single-use plastics out of the landfills, so thank you for your support!
Spring ISD, Houston Dynamo and Dash Announce Diesel's Readers Program
Spring ISD is excited to team up with the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash for the Diesel’s Readers school readers program--a partnership which utilizes the power of the soccer teams and the sport of soccer to support teachers in their efforts to boost reading away from the classroom.
The program, which will run from Oct. 12-Nov. 20, is open for all kindergarten through 6th grade students in the district. Students will have the opportunity to win various prizes, including a ticket per student to a Dynamo or Dash game in 2021. The school with the most read books combined over the six week program will win the grand prize of having a Houston Dynamo or Dash player reading a book live!
**Students who read five or more books will receive their earned complimentary ticket with a purchase of a parent fundraiser ticket. Link to redeem the complimentary ticket will be provided to classes to share with parents.
Want to see your student’s grades and report cards? Log into HAC!
As we prepare to release progress reports and report cards this fall, we wanted to remind you how to check your child’s grades on the Home Access Center.
The key is to log into the myspringisd portal and into HAC. There you will find a Grades tab. When you click on that, you will see where to locate your child’s progress report (IPR), report cards and more.
Remember, the username and password you use to log into the portal is the same username and password for logging into HAC. Also, parents should log in using their credentials, not their student’s.
Staying connected with your child’s academic progress is a great way to ensure your student’s success in school. By monitoring and encouraging, you can help support your child’s performance.
See the attached handouts in English and Spanish for step-by-step directions.
