We LOVE to Read!
Hello, Families!
I hope you had a wonderful week! Your child will be bringing home an "EVERYDAY" folder today. This is the only folder we will be using from here on out. The multiple folders were getting a bit confusing for all. I'm sure this is going to be a positive change!
Next week, your child will be coming home with a special "Reading Folder" in addition to his/her "Everyday Folder." This will contain a reading log and the book at their level (color). This is the book that must be read for 30 minutes each night. Please assist your child in recording the number of pages read, etc. on the reading log. Your child is familiar with filling these out, as we have done so at school for several weeks now.
Our field trip has moved to Konow Corn Maze in Homer Glen (instead of Johansen Farm in Bolingbrook). Please make sure your child has a sack lunch where EVERYTHING can be thrown away when finished. We will go rain or shine, so let's hope for wonderful weather!!!
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful weekend!
Please ask your child:
Reading
- What books are in your book box?
- Tell me about read-to-self time. Where do you choose to read? What are the expectations during this time?
- What did you read about this week?
- Show me your MAIN IDEA sheet on sharks. How did you know how to find the main idea?
Writing
- You used a rubric to check your writing. What did you notice about your writing? What is one thing you do well? What is one thing you can work on?
- You learned to use quotation marks in your writing. Show me how you can do this!
Math
This week was a "buffer week" in which kids either got to extend their understanding of previously taught math concepts, or where they were retaught and retested. There was no homework this past week. We will begin a new unit on Monday! :)
