Poverty Simulation
Presented by Barney Slowey at CESA 10
This poverty simulation will give participants a chance to experience what it is like to be in poverty. Participants who are volunteering with the community agency role-play will have to help homeless participants fill out paperwork to receive services in the community.
This opportunity is available to educators in the CESA 10, CESA 11, and CESA 12 areas at no cost. Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone who might be interested in participating.
Learning outcomes will include:
- To get an idea of what it's truly like to live in poverty.
- To gain empathy toward students in situations of poverty.
- To help educators get a better idea of how to help students in poverty get the most out of their education.
Volunteers are needed to play the following roles:
Bank
Quik Cash
Community Action Agency
Interfaith Services
Food a Rama/Grocers
Mortgage/Realty
Pawnshop

If you would like to participate in this way, please contact Ashley Parkhurst at aparkhurst@cesa10.k12.wi.us
