Winnwood Elementary School
March 2021 News
From Dr. Copeland
I hope your families have enjoyed learning about the seven habits from students. Our Habits at Home program will continue through May. Students have enjoyed sharing their leadership knowledge at home and earning prizes. April activities were sent home on 3/25/21. The April focus habits are 5 & 6. Please ask your student to tell you all about them.
Since we are on the subject of The Seven Habits and Leadership, you might want to take a look at the links below. Covid has kept us from gathering in large groups so we have been having our monthly leadership assemblies Covid style. We all watch the pre-recorded assembly at the same time and students are active participants in creating each assembly. You can watch them through the links below.
Do you have a child who will be four by July 31, 2021 or know someone who does? We are excited that next year our preschool classroom at Winnwood will be all day rather than a morning and an afternoon class. The program is free. Please help us fill that classroom with Winnwood families! Check out the web site for more information or to sign up to have your child screened. https://www.nkcschools.org/domain/95
Our Grade 3-5 Craft Night is happening on April 13 at 5:30 pm. Registered families will receive supplies from Mrs. Wetzel the day of the event. Students should bring iPads home to log in to the event on Microsoft Teams.
Spring Break is upon us. Please take time during the break to relax and have some family fun. Our city has so many fun and free activities for families. You might enjoy Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, The Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary or a picnic at one of our beautiful parks. No matter how your family chooses to enjoy the break, please be safe and have the very best time together.
Please remember that Friday, March 26 and Friday, April 16 will be virtual learning days. We also have no school on Wednesday, April 28. These are days that you will not see on our original school calendar so please mark the dates.
