Issue #175, March 1st, 2024 - RULH Local School District
Lady Jays Win Sectional Championship!
The Lady Jays varsity basketball team recently completed a successful season by winning an OHSAA Sectional Championship! The Lady Jays (#7 seed) upset Cedarville (#3 seed) in a thrilling game! Grace Taylor hit a shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime where the Lady Jays prevailed by a score of 35-34. The Lady Jays then advanced and took on the #1 seed, Legacy Christian on Tuesday, February 27th. The Lady Jays played a great game and fought to the very end before falling to Legacy Christian by a score of 38-26. Congratulations to Coach Brian Littleton, the coaching staff and the Lady Jays on a great season!
Varsity Girls Bowling Team Advanced to OHSAA Southwest District Tournament!
RULH Students Win Ripley Women's Club Essay Contest
FFA Livestock Judging Teams Kick Off Season at the Gallia County Invitational
The livestock judging teams kicked off their spring CDE season with solid placings at the Gallia County Livestock Invitational. The Junior High Team took 3rd place in their division, with Logan Fisher (7th grade) leading the team with a 9th place overall individual finish! All team members finished in the top 30 individuals!
The high school Team took 11th overall in their division with Austin Manning leading the team with 20th place finish overall! All team members finished in the top 80 individuals!
Mr. Cluxton and Mr. Foster couldn’t be prouder of these young teams and their dedication to learning and competing in this Career Development Event! Way to go JAYS!
RULH Elementary YMCA After School Program Hosts Newport Aquarium
The students who attend the RULH Elementary YMCA After School Program recently enjoyed a special day when the Newport Aquarium visited. The students loved the experience as they were permitted to touch and feel various oceanic specimens from the aquarium!
Aberdeen Police Chief David Benjamin Visits the Ripley Preschool!
Aberdeen Chief of Police David Benjamin recently came to visit the preschool at RULH Elementary. He talked to the kids about police safety and what he does for our community! Thank you Officer Benjamin!
RULH FCCLA Creates Public Service Advertisement and Hosts Community Dinner!
The RULH FCCLA and the Ripley Ministerial Association hosted a Community Dinner at the Centenary Methodist Church. The students love giving back to their community!
FCCLA students also recently created a public service announcement to be played on the radio bringing awareness about distracted driving. Thank you C103 Country!

Students Read to Students at RULH Elementary!
Raelyn Young, a 6th grade student, recently read to Mrs. Jenny Brown’s kindergarten class. Having older student role models sharing the love of reading with kindergartners is instrumental to building the same love of reading for younger students. Way to go Raelyn! And way to go Mrs. Brown for facilitating this opportunity!
RULH FFA Programs Hold Annual FFA Week Activities!
FFA members’ favorite time of the year is always National FFA Week! National FFA Week is a time for FFA members hosted activities that raised awareness about the role that FFA plays in the development of future leaders and the importance of agricultural education. The members enjoyed theme days to help celebrate FFA and spread awareness of agriculture throughout the school. Theme days for National FFA week were as follows:
Tuesday: Dress like your AG Teacher
Wednesday: Western Hat Day
Thursday: Blue and Gold Day
Friday: Pajama Day
The FFA chapter hosted a staff appreciation lunch on Friday, February 22nd. The staff helps the FFA by volunteering their time to judge contests, allowing students to attend FFA trips, supporting the chapter fundraisers, and so much more. FFA Week is a great time for students to spend with friends and to celebrate the Future Farmers of America organization!
Boys Basketball and Cheerleading Recognized at Senior Night
Congratulations to the boys basketball players and cheerleaders who were recognized on Senior Night on Tuesday, February 20th. Blue Jay Pride!
Brooklyn Manning Named to All-League SHAC Team & First Team All- District
Congratulations to Brooklyn Manning on being named to the Southern Hills Athletic Conference All-League Team and the District 16 Division IV Coaches Association 1st team. Blue Jay Pride!
