APHRODITE
Aphrodite is the goddess of love, desire and beauty. In addition to her natural gifts she has a magical girdle that compels anyone she wishes to desire. There are two accounts of her birth. One says she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. The other goes back to when Cronus castrated Uranus and tossed his severed genitals into the sea. The Aphrodite rise from the sea foam on a giant scallop and walked to shore in Cyprus. Also she is wife of Hephaestus. The myrtle is her tree, the dove, and the swan and sparrow are her birds.
Also Aphrodite loved and was loved by many gods and mortals(humans). Among her mortal lovers, the mot famous was Adonis. Some of her sons are Eros, Anteros, Hymenaios and Aeneas( with her Trojan lover Anchises). Perhaps the most famous legend about Aphrodite concerns the cause of the Trojan War.
