South Side Family Newsletter
October 2017
Exciting Times!
There are many exciting learning opportunities happening for students at South Side Elementary! Teachers are working very hard to make learning interesting and relevant to our students. Now that we have had a chance to meet with you during parent/teacher conferences, please be sure to focus on the goals set forth by your student's teacher. Parent/teacher conferences and communication are not limited to one day. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning progress be sure to reach out to his/her teacher. Our event calendar at the bottom of this newsletter is filling up with lots of important dates.
Please be sure that you have warm outdoor clothing for your kids! Our weather is sure to change quickly. My own children always surprise me with how much they have grown over the span of a few months and my wife and I always find that we need to get bigger gloves, coats, hats, etc. If you are in need of assistance to acquire any cold weather clothing for your child, please contact me, we can and will be glad to help! I hope to see all of you at our upcoming Fall Festival!
Sincerely,

Fall Festival
Save the date! Our Fall Festival will take place on Friday, November 3 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. More information will be coming home soon. Please consider the extra value that a wrist band will provide if you preorder when information is sent home. If you would like to help out in any way please contact the school or attend the PTO Fall Festival Planning Meeting on Tuesday, October 24 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the school library. FREE child care is provided during our PTO meetings.
Want to get a jump on helping for our festival? We will be asking for 2 liter bottles of soda. Each bottle that a student donates will get them two free activity tickets to use at the carnival!

Mad Ants Visit and Challenge
The Mad Ant stopped for a visit during our last Trailblazer University celebration. He was here to promote the Mad Ants Get Fit Challenge. He is challenging the students at South Side to be active 30 minutes for 30 days. A form went home with every student earlier this week (extra forms are in the office). Students must record their 30 minutes of daily activity and parents/guardians must sign each day. Return this form to Mrs. Bowman by Friday, November 10th to receive a FREE TICKET to the November 18th Mad Ants game.
