Shine A Light On Kindness
Hello Vikings! Project Vinatta wants to remind everyone that February is the month to celebrate friendships and kindness! We want every Viking to feel loved and appreciated. Together we can stand up for each other and support our differences and diversities! Our goal was to make kindness a conversation all over the building to help improve school culture and help all students feel supported in all their endeavors - personal and academic. Aside from starting the conversation, we also wanted our students to get INVOLVED in the actual act of kindness through activities and opportunities.
Shining a Light on Kindness: No Place For Hate Initiative
Every student in the building will be asked to share an idea of how they can spread kindness on a light bulb template. These ‘lights’ will be strung up around the school in order to ‘shine a light on kindness.’ Kindness sets the foundation for social action because it fosters compassion and empathy in students and motivates them to help others. By shining a light on KINDNESS in our building, we’re able to dim out harsh words, actions, and bullying and promote acceptance and inclusivity.
Please join us as we shine a light on KINDNESS at school and at home!
School Dance - February 9th!
Our last school dance of the year is tonight from 6:30 - 9:00!
Tickets are $5 dollars, and can be purchased at the door.
Here are the dance rules -
1) Students may not stay after school until the dance starts.
2) If a student leaves, they will not be readmitted.
3) Only LVMS students are allowed to the dance.
4) Please dress in school dance appropriate - this is a fine line, but please remember the kids are in a middle school cafeteria, not a club on 6th Street.
Please be patient with pick up after the dance. Because it's night, we will only allow students to be picked up in front of the cafeteria OR in front of the Intermediate School. The Intermediate line is a little shorter usually, so feel free to drive over there. It is VERY helpful to text your students when you're here so they know where you are.
Most importantly, just be patient. It's a really fun night, but getting all those kids to their cars safely is our #1 priority. The teachers will be out there directing traffic and helping students know where to line up.
Vikings are Vicious In UIL!
The Vikings hosted 5 other campuses to compete in our area UIL Academic Events. The night was a huge success during which students showcased their academic talents including writing, speaking, spelling, listening, and general content knowledge. Overall in the Meet, Lago Vista came in 3rd, behind Lampasas and Gateway. These competitive districts came out in high numbers, but the Vikings were able to earn awards and recognition in several events.

Student Registration
This message is to inform you that annual student registration is open in Ascender ParentPortal.
As a reminder, annual registration must be completed EACH YEAR because these forms provide us with important permissions and information that must be provided annually. It is also very important to note that the information provided in Ascender ParentPortal is what the school uses to contact parents in the event of an emergency, so it is very important that all information is correct and up-to-date.
HOW DO I ACCESS ASCENDER PARENT PORTAL?
https://portals13.ascendertx.com/ParentPortal/login?distid=227912
¿NECESITA ESPAÑOL?
Todos los formularios de registro también están en español. Para continuar en español, hay un menú desplegable en la esquina superior derecha de la página de inicio de sesión para cambiar al español.
WHAT IF I HAVE A NEWLY ENROLLED STUDENT? WHAT IF DON'T SEE MY ENROLLED STUDENT IN ASCENDER PARENTPORTAL?
If you enrolled your student during summer enrollment, you must still complete annual registration forms. If you don't see your enrolled student when you log in, an Ascender ParentPortal ID is needed in order to link to your student and complete the annual registration forms.
Please email registration@lagovistaisd.net and your campus registrar to receive your student's Ascender ParentPortal ID. Please note that there may be slight delays in answering requests during peak times, such as this, but we will get it to you as quickly as possible!
Once you receive your student's Ascender ParentPortal ID from the campus registrar, please log into Ascender ParentPortal, select "Link to Enrolled Student", and enter the ParentPortal ID and the student's date of birth.
WHAT IF I SEE MY STUDENT, BUT DON'T HAVE A "REGISTRATION" OPTION?
In order to complete forms or update data for a student, the email address you have listed in Ascender ParentPortal must match what we have in our system. If you can see your student, but can't update any information, those email addresses do not match. We recommend updating and verifying your email address in Ascender ParentPortal. If you need us to change your email address in our system, please email registration@lagovistaisd.net and your campus registrar. You will be asked to provide your student's full name, date of birth, and grade level for verification purposes.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
