Thank You Cathcart Parent Organization
Cathcart is blessed to have a community that supports the school in so many ways. Recently our 5th and 6th graders went to Outdoor School for three days to learn about the environment, practice teamwork, do science experiments at a creek, archery and climbed three-story climbing walls. CPO provided field trip funds to support this wonderful bi-annual event and paid scholarships for students who were not able to pay for the event. The CPO also contributes to field trip funds so every Cathcart student can go on a field trip each year. CPO also sponsors Art Smart where over 60 parent volunteers lead monthly art projects. Did you know that this program sponsors over 70 art projects for each student as they progress from kindergarten through 6th grade at Cathcart.
Last month, CPO purchased and had two high quality soccer goals installed on the play field. What an upgrade. They also purchased and had a new drinking fountain installed in the gym that allows the community to more easily fill their water bottles when they are at basketball and volleyball practices after school throughout the year. The CPO also purchased a new refrigerator in the Staff Room after they learned that staff lunches were regularly freezing the old refrigerator.
CPO has also purchased iXL software, Pebbles Go, Mystery Science Activity Packs, Deep Space Sparkle Art Project database and a room full of Art Supplies. They have budgeted for field trips for next year and two major assemblies that Cathcart teachers will organize.
These CPO funds help Cathcart be the creative, fun school that is a special place for students and the community. Thank you CPO!
In addition to these upgrades and programs the CPO hosts several family events through the year, including Bobs Corn, Bingo Night, the Glow Dance and the end of year Carnival. This year the CPO is happy to bring back the Drama program! With help from Volunteers and our super talented Cathcart kids, we will have two performances of Shrek the Musical in May. Be sure to attend the next CPO General Meeting on May 9th at 6pm to vote for your board and also meet our next Principal, Mr. Shawn Ryan.

To the parents of 6th graders entering middle school next year:
The Tdap vaccine is a booster that continues to protect your child against the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis diseases they were immunized against as a child. This vaccine is required for entry into 7th grade. If your child has not already received this vaccine, please consider making an appointment with a health care provider this Summer prior to entry into middle school. Please do not wait until after 7th grade starts. Once your child has received this vaccine OR you have a signed exemption form for medical, personal/philosophical or religious reasons, please provide documentation to the school nurse. Thank you.
