Alma DECA and Student Council Paying It Forward at ACH
On February 18, 2020, Alma DECA and Student Council presented Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Northwest with a monetary donation of $2,148.42 and over 150 coloring books and crayons for the patients. This community giving project was spearheaded by Seth Cole, Kaitlyn McAllister and Chloe Lewis. Committee members of both organizations helped raise the donation and were able to attend the check presentation.
“I had a great time visiting the new hospital and seeing how appreciative they were for our donations,” said Shivam Raja. “Hopefully, we can continue to make donations to Arkansas Children’s Hospitals and make the lives of the patients just that much better.”
Rebecca Neely of The Arkansas Children’s Hospital thanked the group for their work and giving, sharing that without donors, the hospital could not make the impact it does on the communities it serves.
“Getting to donate to and tour AR Children’s Northwest was very neat. Normally, hospitals are not positive to be around but to be able to see how children in our community are being cared for was really something special. I am very thankful for all that this hospital does!” shared Kelby Willhite.
Ten of the members attending were able to take a short tour of the hospital to see what was located on different floors and learn about the hospital.
“The Arkansas Children’s Hospital Northwest is dedicated to helping each and every child in the state of Arkansas live a happy and healthy life! It was rewarding to feel the positive atmosphere at the hospital,” said Kaitlyn McAllister.
This donation was the culmination of work from the Miracle Minute and Mr. and Miss Alma High School Audience Appeal contest.
“It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had the opportunity to be a part of. Having a chance to give back and help your community is something you can never forget", shared London Blackwell.
