Photo Highlights of the Week
PJ Day! YAY!
Friday, October 8th, Thomas students earned a Pajama Day by raising funds for the Tiger Trek 21. Students arrived in PJs, sweats, and comfy clothes. Mrs. Crimmel's class is patiently waiting on friends during a restroom break dressed in their pajamas. What a great way to celebrate and have a happy and relaxed day of learning!
Many thanks to all who raised money for the Tiger Trek!
Slipper Swap
One student borrowed Mrs. Davis's slippers. HAHAHA!
This reminded Mrs. Davis of the importance to "walk in another person's shoes" or strive to see others' perspectives. Adults practice this prior to having conversations with each other. We do this often with students at school when there is a conflict. Families can try this at home too. Questions to ask: How do you think the other person felt before the issue? How do you think the person is feeling now? What could the other person have been thinking? In conflict resolution practices, people may restate the other person's perspective after hearing them. This practice can assist people to get to a positive solution faster:-)
Theme Days
Mrs. Sullivan's class is engaged in learning while wearing their pajamas! It was a successful theme day, PJ Day!
Monday the 11th, Thomas students earned music before school, during lunch, and at the end of the day. Fourth graders shared input on school appropriate music choices!
Thursday, October 14th, fourth grade will choose another theme day for the school, as they were the top earners in the Tiger Trek, for our school. We are excited to hear their choice and celebrate our successful fundraiser one more time!

Fall Harvest Parties
Thomas is thrilled to be able to hold Fall Harvest Parties on Friday, October 29, 2021! The party will be held for PM kindergarten and most classes in first grade through fifth grade during the last session of the day (2:45 p.m.-3:30 p.m.). First graders in Ms. Bender's, Miss Alleman's, and Mrs. Weber's classes will hold their party for the 45 minutes right before going to related arts at 2:50 p.m. The three, first grades will enjoy their celebration during 2:00-2:45 p.m. Morning kindergarten will hold their party beginning at 11:00 a.m., as they leave at 11:50 a.m.
Parents ready to support in the planning and implementation of the party, please sign up. See link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844acad2ca7fe3-classroom
To mitigate the spread of COVID, we will be following these guidelines:
The Fall Harvest Party celebration will not include costumes or the costume parade. There are several reasons behind this decision. One, students change into their costumes at school and we cannot maintain safe distancing during that process. Also students typically switch classrooms and/or use the restrooms to change. This process would impede our ability to conduct accurate contact tracing. Finally, donning costumes might require the removal of masks, which is not a safe practice with unvaccinated students. Thank you for understanding:-)
Food will not be consumed at the parties. Some goody bags may be sent home, depending on the planning done by room parents. Food will be selected according to reported allergies in the classroom.
Limited volunteers wearing masks, 2 per classroom, will support the parties. In most cases, the volunteers will be the one to two room parents.
With support of the PTO in planning the harvest party, students will enjoy activities and a craft to celebrate this festive time of year!
Thank you for your patience and understanding:-)
