Message from Dr. Burns!
June 15, 2020
Dear KMS Families
Thank you for all you have done to support your students’ education this year! We express this with the greatest sincerity. What families have done - and will continue to do as we move forward through this landscape with many unknowns still ahead, has taken and continues to take courage, strength and love beyond measure. The school and district are working hard to develop safe and educationally strong programs for the summer for students who need extra support, into the fall and throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
I would like to personally thank you. I am retiring at the end of this month. I cannot begin to tell you how much I have loved helping to lead KMS this year, and to work with extraordinary staff and faculty who have dedicated so much blood, sweat and tears. Most especially, it was a hoot getting to know your children. Their thoughts, solutions, stories, and sense of humor are profound, endearing, and hilarious. They have so much to offer now and into the future. I have loved each one of them, and I would therefore appreciate your giving your’ a big hug for me. I will miss you all.
Please take a look at the important announcement below. Melissa Benevides, secretary extraordinaire, has transformed family communications this year, and helped make us all (especially me) look really good.
Have an awesome summer.
Remember: be safe, be well - and Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready to Learn
B E R E L E N T L E S S
As always, with love,
Dr. Burns
This weeks Schedule:
Grab and Go Meals!- Monday, June 15th to Thursday, June 18th
Parent Notice: Grab and Go!
Grab and Go will be picked up at the KMS side entrance (bus circle off Hugh Cole Rd) for the week of June 15 thru the 18th.
Student Pick up & Drop Off Day
Student Pick-Up and Drop-Off Day will take place by grade level over a three day period with a fourth day for families who cannot make it on their scheduled day*. Below is the schedule we ask families to follow. Students/parents will meet KMS staff outside the building to drop off their materials and collect the personal items left in school lockers. Personal items have been collected, bagged, and labeled with the students name. We need to follow the given schedule to limit the number of people on school grounds in order to provide the required social distancing of 6 feet. Any personal items not collected during this week will be donated to local charities. We ask all families to respect social distancing (6ft space) and to wear face masks.
There will be two tables set up in front of the main entrance of KMS:
- One table will be for drop off materials
- One table for picking up personal items
* Families with students in multiple grades may pick up/drop off belongings for all of their children on their scheduled time.
* Return ALL KMS Library books when you pick up your belongings
** DO NOT RETURN YOUR CHROMEBOOK- Chromebooks will be used again next year.

We do not collect student instruments over the summer. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Brackett or Mrs. Labonte
