4th Grade News
Week of September 7th
Parents' Night
We look forward to seeing all of you this September 14th for Lower School Parents’ Night. The evening begins at 6:30 with a general assembly in the Salem Auditorium for announcements and is followed by an overview of our curriculum and class activities in the fourth grade classrooms. Please remember that the evening is for parents only.
Field Trip
We are excited to announce that we will be attending our summer reading field trip this Friday at Laser Tag in Elmwood. The students will be having fun all morning long as a reward for reading and working hard over the summer. They will be returning to school for lunch. Teachers will be chaperoning this field trip, we do not need parent chaperones.
Academics
We have now begun social studies classes and have started off the year with the study of geography, learning about lines of longitude, latitude, maps, absolute location, relative location, canyons, and territory.
Fourth grade is another big milestone for our students as they begin their year as the leaders of the lower school. The students are learning to become more independent and responsible for themselves and their homework to better prepare them for middle school. Please help your child in this endeavor by having him/her check his/her assignments nightly to see that all homework has been completed and placed in their homework folder, ready to be handed in the next day.
