**URGENT** FAFSA/TAFSA Graduation Requirement
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC) §28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2021-2022 school year, each student MUST do one of the following in order to graduate:
- Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TAFSA), or
- Submit a signed opt-out form
If you have not completed this requirement, the final Katy ISD deadline to complete on of the above is April 1, 2022. Not fulfilling this requirement will prevent your student from being eligible for graduation.

**URGENT** Privacy Codes
To be able to have your student's name listed on/in these items, their privacy codes cannot be an N.
For only the Spring Senior shirt, your student's privacy code must be a Y.
- To be included on the Spring shirt this must be updated by the end of the school day on Friday, March 4th.
For the graduation program, your student's privacy code must only be O.
If you want your student's name listed on/in both, you will need to make sure that their privacy code is a Y.
To make a change, please email Mrs. Garduno at sarahagarduno@katyisd.org from the email address listed in HAC and include a copy of your Driver's license/ID.
For those who do not want to change privacy codes, but would like their student listed in the graduation program, I have attached an Exception Form that must be completed and returned to the Senior Office. The form below will work for the graduation program only. Form must be filled out and returned to the Senior Office as soon as possible.

Graduation Cap and Gown
MCHS students wear a custom Cap and Gown, so they must be ordered through Balfour.
All orders must be placed online. Balfour will not be back on campus prior to delivery.

All cap and gown orders will be delivered on campus in May.
The price for caps and gowns increases after March 1st.
***Caps may not be decorated and no outside stoles, flags, etc. may be worn at the graduation ceremony.***

Letters of Recommendation
Choose Wisely: Ask someone who knows you as a person and knows your true character
Plan ahead: Give at least 10 business days (M-F) for your recommender to complete your letter
Consider your audience: Explain the intent of the letter and provide additional information as needed
Detail Oriented: Provide a résumé or supplemental document outlining your accomplishments and experience ( see next slide for more information)
