According to National Geographic Wildfires Article, wildfires are usually caused by people than it being caused naturally. Forest fires clear a lot of land every year in the u.s. The normal way firefighters get the forest fire down is water dousing and spraying fire retardants to extinguish existing fires. Wildfires/Forest fires play a role in nature by, when the old/ dead trees burn the seeds grow a new and healthier tree there than the one that was there before. These fires occur around the world, and in MOST of 50 states, but most common in the West of U.S.
