Hello, Longwood Families!
Happy March! It's been a rollercoaster of weather from 70-degree sunshine to below freezing! As a reminder, we do go out for recess when the weather is clear and the "feels like" temperature is five or greater. Our classroom and lunch/recess teachers encourage students who have coat or jacket, to leave it on for the duration of recess. This is to limit the number of items left behind on the blacktop and playground.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! If your student is missing a jacket, sweatshirt, coat, or hat/gloves, please encourage them to stop by the racks in the main hallway. Any items that remain on the racks at the end of the day on Friday, March 22nd, will be donated.
Read Across America
This past week we enjoyed a number of guest readers for Read Across America! Some of our special guests included Superintendent Dr. Talley, Board Member Ms. Donahue, and former Longwood Lions Mrs. Arias and Mrs. Newton. Thank you to Ms. Kouri for organizing this wonderful event for our students!
Read like a Lion!

IAR Testing Begins Tuesday for Grades 3-4-5
Kicking off this week is IAR testing for students in Grades 3-4-5. Families, your support is crucial! Ensure your child is well-rested, has breakfast from home or at school, and encourage a positive mindset! Testing begins right away each morning. Students must be on time! If your child arrives after testing begins, they will need to wait in the main office and complete testing on another day and time as a make-up. Together, we will make this experience a success! If you haven't already done so, please submit a quick note of encouragement for your tester - these will be delivered to students before testing! https://forms.gle/kN8HNjuvBe7VykqJ6
Testing Days: Tue 3/5, Wed 3/6, Thur 3/7 & Tue 3/12, Wed 3/13, Thur 3/14
We need your HELP, Longwood Families! We need at least 20% of parents to respond to the 5Essentials Survey, but we know our community can exceed this! We have nearly 80% of our students and nearly 80% of our staff have already completed it, but only 17% of our parents. Your input is essential to help us continuously improve and enhance the educational experience for your students. All responses are confidential. Visit: SURVEY HERE Type "DuPage" as the County. Type "Longwood" in field to select our school. Thank you!

Grade 3-4-5 State Testing
Grade 3-4-5 Families,
Beginning Tuesday your student will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) for ELA and Math. Students in grade 5 will also take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA).
We have a secret mission for families to create a surprise for your child!
Our goal during testing is for every student to have a note of encouragement waiting for them on their desk before beginning their IAR test. Words from the people who mean the most to them - their family and friends! Please click the link to submit an encouraging note for your student. Messages will be printed on stationary paper and delivered to your student our second morning of testing. Submit your note HERE
We appreciate your partnership in making your student's testing experience a positive and successful one!
