Financial Aid Information
FAFSA
Seniors planning to attend college next year should be working on applying for Financial Aid. Before each year of college, students must apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Your college uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid. After submission, you’ll receive your Student Aid Report.
If you need support completing the FAFSA please see your counselor. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
Excelsior Scholarships
The Excelsior Scholarship, in combination with other student financial aid programs, allows students to attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free. The program covers tuition for eligible SUNY and CUNY students. For the 2021-22 academic year, families who earned $125,000 or less in the tax year 2019 are eligible to apply. More information should be released for the 2022-2023 school year in the coming months.
English 10 Classroom Naviance Presentations
This past week, all 10th grade students logged into their Naviance accounts and completed a Strength Explorer Inventory. The presentation took place in English 10 classes and sparked the conversation between counselors and students about career paths and post graduation planning.
Naviance is a tool that students will be able to access all 4 years of high school. This portal allows students to look up careers and research colleges. All information can be saved and accessed by students throughout their high school career. Parents, please ask your students to share their results!

Skilled Trades Presentations
Students in technology classes were provided the opportunity to listen to Mr. Tim Coleman from the Local 669 Sprinkler Fitters Union. Mr. Coleman spoke to students about the "other 4 year degree." He explained that there are many great opportunites for careers that do not involve going to college. Mr. Coleman spoke to students about the cost of living, salary, benefit packages and planning for life after high school. His presentation was informative and provided students with background knowledge on how to pursue a Skilled Trade Career Path.
Any students that are interested in more information can see Mrs. D'Arcy for Mr. Coleman's contact information!
