CFHS Charge Up!
November 5, 2023
A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN FORSHEE, CFHS PRINCIPAL
The 2nd six weeks ended Friday and report cards will be available November 9th in Skyward Family Access. The Final Exam Schedule is located below, please read through the exemption requirements. ALL students must be in attendance during exam week. If a student is exempt from a final exam, they MUST still show up for that class period during the final exam. If a student is exempt and does not show up on the day of the final, they will lose their exemption and be required to take the exam.
ALL STUDENTS MUST SHOW UP FOR EXAMS!!
GET TIGHT AND STAY RIGHT!
- Phones/airpods/headphones should not be visible in the HALLWAYS from 8:25-3:50 daily! This INCLUDES between classes. Put them in your backpack, or they will be taken up. There is no need to argue or get upset when that happens because you have been given plenty of time to learn this.
- We will continue dress code, ID, and phone sweeps the minute you walk in. Don't forget that hoodies must be down inside the building ALL day.
Congratulations and good luck to all Chargers this week: Marching Band at State Monday, Volleyball Playoff Game Tuesday, Football Playoff Game Thursday.

LCISD Bond 2023
Guy K. Traylor Stadium originally opened in 1960 and has undergone many improvements throughout the last 60 years while hosting more than 70 events and thousands of students and visitors annually.
The current turf of the stadium was installed in 2013 with a life expectancy of 10 years. Currently, there are many improvements needed including turf, lights, foundation, and bleacher repairs to keep the stadium safe and operational.
For example, underneath the student section, a few steel support beams for the bleachers are bent, and multiple sections of the bleachers are supported by wooden beams rather than concrete beams. Recently, we closed the student section at Traylor Stadium due to these foundational concerns.
This August, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees called for a $15 million bond election in November to assist with the improvements needed for the stadium. If approved, the bond will provide repairs needed.
The Board has worked to minimize the impact and voted to lower your tax rate by 9.28 cents. If this bond passes, it will not increase the total tax rate for the 2023 school year.
The community is invited to vote during the upcoming 2023 Bond election, and important dates have been provided below:
Monday, October 23 - Friday, November 3
Early voting
All sites will be open 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

The use of a mobile telephone or any device capable of capturing images of any violation of the student code of conduct is strictly prohibited while at school or at school-related or school-sponsored events."

Lamar CISD Exemption Policy Update
On September 5, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved some important changes to our EIAA Local policy, which provides guidance regarding our final exam exemptions. These updates will go into effect on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Effective September 11, 2023, the following adjustments will be made to our final exam policy for 7th – 12th grade students:
Absence Criteria for Exam Exemptions:
To qualify for an exemption from final exams, a student shall have no more than three absences without a note from a medical professional or up to five absences with a note from a medical professional for at least two of those absences. This change reinforces the importance of regular attendance while allowing flexibility for genuine medical reasons.
Attendance Review Committee (ARC):
Parents and students may request the campus ARC (as specified in FEC Local) to review cases of students with more than five total absences. The committee will assess whether the student has valid reasons to be considered eligible for exam exemptions. Decisions made by the ARC are final and may not be appealed. We encourage students and parents to utilize this process if they believe their circumstances warrant a review.
Absent on Exam Day:
If a student fails to be present and sign in on the day of the exam, they will be marked absent and required to take the assessment at a later date, determined by the campus administration. Failure to take the assessment will result in a grade of zero for the final/semester exam.
Important Note: Absences accrued prior to September 11, 2023, will NOT count against earning exemptions. However, any absences prior to September 11, 2023, may count against compulsory attendance requirements per board Policy FEA (Legal) and FEC (Legal).
These changes to our final exam policy reflect our commitment to maintaining a fair and equitable academic environment while emphasizing the importance of regular attendance and accountability. We believe that these adjustments will promote academic success and encourage responsible attendance habits among our students.
