Freshwater:
Freshwater is defined as water that does not contain large amounts of salt, located inland, as ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers. Only 3% of all the worlds water is fresh, and nearly 70% of that is frozen in glaciers.
Brackish Water:
Brackish water is defined as water that does contain more salinity than freshwater, but not as much as salt water. This can result in the mixing of freshwater and saltwater. This can be found where as a freshwater river emptying into an ocean or sea.
Saltwater:
Saltwater is defined as water that contains larger amounts of salt. More than 97% of the worlds water is saltwater, which makes up more than 70% of the earths surface. This can be found in large amounts in seas and oceans around the world.
