Board Appoints Chris Caleris Interim Superintendent
Caleris Selected to be the Superintendent Starting August 1st
During the regular meeting on April 15th, the North Olmsted Board of Education appointed Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services Chris Caleris to the role of Interim Superintendent effective April 16th.
Additionally, the board announced that Caleris has also been selected to be the Superintendent effective August 1, 2024. A resolution was approved naming Caleris Superintendent effective August 1st, with a contract to be voted on at a future meeting.
“As a board we met to review applications for the position and engage in the interview process. We all felt that Mr. Caleris was the right person to lead our district at this time,” said Board President Megan Murphy. “Mr. Caleris’ years of experience with North Olmsted and his positive rapport with our district and the community, gives him the ability to step in as interim superintendent immediately, but also long term, puts him in a great position to bring all of our stakeholders together to maintain our excellence as a school district and build momentum for positive change,” she added.
Caleris has worked for North Olmsted City Schools for 23 years. Caleris started out with the district as a Math Teacher at North Olmsted Middle School. He has served as Consulting Teacher for teachers new to the district, Assistant Principal of North Olmsted High School, Principal of Butternut Primary School, Coordinator of Pupil Services, and Director of Pupil Services.
“I am honored to be selected as the next superintendent of the North Olmsted City Schools,” said Chris Caleris. “North Olmsted is truly a special place with a dedicated team that cares about our students and their success. I also know first hand the sense of pride the community has in our schools. I am excited to continue to grow existing relationships, while building new ones as I take this next step. I want to thank Superintendent Brand for the work he has done the last three years and I am looking forward to continuing to collaborate with him during this transition period.” he added.
Current Superintendent David Brand would continue to serve the district in a consulting role for the remainder of his contract which runs through July 31st as part of the transition plan.
“It has been an honor and a privilege working with the North Olmsted Board of Education and staff,” stated Superintendent Brand. “We have celebrated many accomplishments together over the past few years, including the passage of our bond issue, securing operating funds and creating a new strategic plan. I am proud to have worked with everyone on these projects. I leave this role knowing that the district is in good hands. Chris is a talented, hardworking, and dedicated leader who has played a critical role in past growth and successes of North Olmsted. I am confident he will lead with integrity and continue our focus on the students,” he stated.
