CarolineAUDITIONS FOR HAIR THE MUSICAL
CALLING ALL SINGERS, ACTORS, and DANCERS or ANYONE who would like to be a part of this social justice musical for Peter Madsen’s senior project. HAIR is a Love-Rock musical and a product of the hippie counterculture and sexual revolution of the late 1960s; several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. Peter will be updating the musical to reflect topics such as immigration, indigenous rights, transgender rights (specifically trans women of color), guns, police brutality, capitalism, fascism, white privilege, trump, etc. AUDITIONS WHEN? Sunday April 29th from 1-3pm & Monday April 30th from 7-9pm WHERE? The Chapel on Prescott College campus (226 Grove Ave) SINGERS: please prepare a song that shows off your range (a cappella) Principle roles: Claude (tenor range) Sheila (mezzo-soprano/ alto) Berger (tenor or baritone) Dionne (soprano/mezzo-soprano) Jeanie (alto) Woof (tenor or baritone) Hud (baritone) Crissy (soprano) NON-SINGERS: please prepare a monologue OR dance OR other performance piece Bring resumé if you have it! Auditions are open to the Prescott community, however if you are a PC student you are eligible to partake in a fall semester independent study where you will be working on this musical, mentored by Ellen Greenblum. We ask that you commit to meeting at least once a week this fall semester and attend all rehearsals leading up to the final performances in December. We will also be looking for musicians, a stage manager, and other technical support. If you have any interest please contact Peter. For more questions please email Peter Madsen: peter.madsen@student.prescott.edu
Music Groups
Dear students,
The last two Music Groups will be switched from Tuesday the 1st and the 8th to Wednesday the 2nd and the 9th. They will be at the same time, 6 to 8 pm. I encourage anyone who can make it to do so, even if you have never come before. I think you will be delighted at what unique music will come out of you. We just acquired a saxophone that you can try out and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
I'd also like you to think about ways you incorporate music into your studies for the fall or next spring. I have done independent studies with students on all aspects of music from general music theory to various instruments to songwriting to recording technology. We have also integrated music into just about every discipline.
And lastly, I'd like to invite you to the CD release party of my band Horned Beetle, which includes three faculty members, namely me, Robyn Bryers, and Paul Burkhardt. It will be held at Thumb Butte Distillery this Friday the 27th from 6 to 9 pm. There will be lots of room to dance.
