Quist ROYALS Weekly News
October 14, 2022
Hello ROYALS!
A heartfelt thanks to members of our parent group that have made it their mission to stock our staff lounge with awesome snacks and treats. This was an amazing and welcomed surprise for our teachers coupled with the lunch and dinner for conferences! It was great to have so many of you attend! We enjoyed meeting you and speaking with you! Remember that if there is ever a concern, you can reach out to us. The first person to reach out to is the teacher. During the work week, it is our policy for a 24 hour turn around at most. Finally, I want to let you all know that Mr. Greg Martin has taken a different position within 27J. I am so grateful for his service to our Quist Community! He is still a part of our parent community for a little bit longer as he has 2 8th graders at Quist. On Tuesday, we welcome our new Office Manager, Ms. Malisa Denke.
Our next Quist Community event for our Royals and their families is our Fall Festival on Friday, October 21st from 5:30 - 7:00 pm! Our Fall Festival is planned and hosted by our 8th Grade WEB students! This is a costumed event that includes a Trunk or Treat, Book Fair, Haunted House and other fun activities! Please plan to attend and/or help out. There are several ways to help out! You can sign up to Volunteer or Decorate your car for the Trunk or Treat! If you have any questions, please email Ms. Petersen at cpetersen@sd27j.net.
Finally, one of the core values at Quist is Integrity. This can be demonstrated in a number of ways, but a small number of our Royals are not showing Integrity by continually keeping their phones with them during instructional times instead of keeping their phone in their locker. We have made a slight adjustment to our Student Handbook and Phone policy. Our staff is still asking students to keep their phone or airpods in their lockers during the instructional portion of the day, including passing period from class to class, or providing a safe place for the items during instructional time. When this happens, you will get notified via email.
If this continues, here are the steps that our staff will follow:
- the phone or item will be turned into the front office for a parent/guardian to pick up.
- If it still continues, then unfortunately, there will be school level consequences.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and have an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fall weather!
On behalf of the ROYALS Community,
Principal Norris-Buck
This year, our unified improvement plan focus is on our Learning Environments. This is the foundation for success within the community. Providing a Learning Environment that is safe, productive and effective. Through historical feedback, and evaluation of lessons learned we made changes to our practices with regards to discipline, cell phones and adherence/consistency to set practices. With that in mind, we invite you to participate in our fall Parent Culture & Climate Survey. This data is an important tool we use to evaluate change made and ensure we are meeting your expectations. Your support in completing this brief survey by October 21st is appreciated!
Your Vote Matters!
We are writing to encourage all of you to vote in this fall’s mid-term election!
This last Tuesday, our Parent Organization hosted a session to learn more about the Ballot Issue 5B. The information we discussed can be found here. Please check it out to learn more about the issue.
Please check your voter registration to be sure that your voter registration is current, or if you are new to Colorado, register to vote. Colorado is a mail in ballot state and your address must be correct for you to receive your ballot.
You can check your voter registration information and/or register to vote at http://www.govotecolorado.com/.
Ballots will be mailed out the week of October 17th, so don’t delay in visiting the Go Vote Colorado website above! 27J Schools has a mill levy override question (5B) on the ballot. We encourage you to read your sample ballot available to you on this website, do your research on the issues and candidates, and vote! The Go Vote Colorado website is very user friendly. Updating your voter information or registering to vote takes just minutes. All you need to register to vote is your Social Security Number or your Colorado Driver’s License.
Your Vote Counts!
Meal Chat Week Four
Fountains and Drains have two opposite functions: fountains overflow with water while drains remove the water completely. In relationships with others, most people are usually a fountain or a drain — they either flow and overflow onto others, or they just
drain people of their energy.. They either refresh the life in others or they dry it up. This week's meal chat looks at having an attitude that refreshes and fills others up.
