Important Information From Our Nurse, Gina Carmichael.
Dear Parents,
Every year at this time we face the same challenge, how to reduce spread of contagious illnesses…With colds, flu, strep throat and cedar allergies, it is the perfect storm of miserableness.
Here is a great short video on how long germs live on surfaces and how they get from one person to another.

Our best defense is careful hand-washing and isolation of people with symptoms, from those who are well. We ask that people STAY HOME if they are not well.
This is the same policy we hold for our staff and we appreciate your help.
Thank you for helping us keep our whole school healthier...
Report Cards Were Sent Home on Friday, January 9!
You can also check your student's grades using TxConnect:
You can access our school report card at: http://www.lagovistaisd.net/default.aspx?name=annualreports
Mrs. Slaughter will be visiting English classes next week to walk students through reading their PSAT results, so if you should have any questions, please let your student know to ask questions!
Counselor's Corner!
And don't forget about LunchBox Tuesdays...students are invited to bring their lunch to Room 106 to learn all about current scholarship applications.
Please be sure your contact information is correct! With all the cold weather lately, a snow day could be in our future! We use the same system that we send out newsletters with to notify parents of weather-related closures and delays. Thanks!
News Report Last Week.
Last week you received this notice from LVISD superintendent, Darren Webb:
We were informed late this afternoon that a Lago Vista High School student was picked up by an Austin ISD teacher on Friday, December 19, which was an early release day. We are currently looking into the situation.
Any event like this gives cause to reflect on our safety practices at school. This past summer, LVHS collaborated with local law authorities on safety procedures, such as lockdown drills, active shooter response, fire drills, and other best practices for a safe school. If you ever have any safety concerns, don't hesitate to contact us as soon as possible. A safe school is our top priority.
LVISD's New Superintendent, Darren Webb
Best Wishes to Coach Haire!
It is with great respect and sadness that we announce the departure of our Director of Athletics, Coach Alan Haire. On Tuesday evening, the Board of Trustees at Mabank ISD officially hired Coach Haire to lead the Mabank Panthers football program. Mabank ISD is a Class 4A, Division I team 60 miles southeast of Dallas.
In his 13 years at Lago Vista ISD, Coach Haire has helped to build a program that has achieved statewide recognition for excellence in athletics. Lago Vista High School’s football program had only two seasons of existence when Coach Haire arrived in 2002. During his 13 seasons leading the Vikings, he achieved an admirable 81-62 record, taking us to our first playoff appearance in 2007 and to a Class 2A, Division I semifinal game in 2010. This past season, the Viking’s 6-5 record propelled us to our seventh playoff appearance.
We are truly grateful for Coach Haire's leadership and wish him and his family the very best of luck in this next chapter. In addition to expressing our gratitude to Coach Haire, we want to assure our community that Lago Vista ISD is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence started by Coach Haire. We will continue to update district stakeholders as we begin the process of finding the next leader of the Viking athletic program.
Thank you, Coach Haire, and good luck!
Tuesday, January 20, 2015, is an early release day for all students in LVISD. LVHS will release at 11:10. Lunch will be served from 11:15-11:45. Buses will pick up at 12:30.
