Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
Thank you so much to our students, families and PTO for making our Staff Appreciation Week so special! Our staff is so very grateful for the applause, notes, drawings, gifts and food. Special thanks to our PTO and all families who contributed for providing three meals and other treats, including a Keurig for our lounge and many k-cups! We all continue to feel lucky to work in such a wonderful school community.
It is hard to believe the end of the school year is coming. As our staff continues the important work of this school year, we are also preparing for the 2021-2022 school year. One important upcoming task will be sectioning students into classes for the new year. The families of our students who will remain remote next year received communicaiton earlier today. Please note that, depending upon the way this is offered, we may have limited ability to accept input in situations where students will be remote learning. For example, it is possible there will be only one remote section across Lions Park and Fairview at a grade level or that there will be a small number of students participating in a concurrent/livestream situation. This may mean there will only be one potential teacher and mix of classmates.
Sections are created according the the following criteria:
Strengths and areas of need are considered for each child.
Some students are clustered by these strengths and/or areas of need to enable push in or pull out support.
Social Emotional Needs are noted and an attempt is made to balance the number of students needing support in these areas among the classrooms.
We try to balance the number of boys and girls in each class.
We welcome your input into this process by inviting you to complete this form. Please do not feel obligated to share input. The teachers have wonderful insight into the needs of their students, and are a critical part of this process. If you choose to share your thoughts, please include information about your child's learning style and the type of learning environment you feel will be the best match for your child's style. You may also include students you feel are or are not an asset to your child's learning environment. If there is a particular child you do not want your child to be sectioned with next year, it is important to include this information. We do not automatically separate students who have had conflicts. We do not guarantee that we can honor every request, but we seriously consider all input that is provided. Because of the complexity of the process, we do not accept requests for particular teachers, and requests for a particular teacher will not be honored.
While classroom teachers and specialists are involved in this process, it is important that any input you have be submitted on this form, so that I am aware in case changes need to be made over the summer when the teachers are not working.
Please provide your input by Friday, May 14th. I assure you that our staff takes this task very seriously and puts a great deal of time and thought into creating the most balanced sections for the following year. We appreciate your support as we make our plans.
I would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and to all who provide love and support as aunts, grandmothers, godmothers and any other role.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly

Technology Issues
Although technology can work well, there are times when it just does not work correctly. Teachers will not be available to respond to emails during instructional times. Instead, please submit a Remote Learning Technology Support form by clicking here. Once submitted, someone from our District Technology Team will contact you to provide assistance.
If you experience a technical issue, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Restart the Chromebook (make sure it turns all the way off before turning back on).
Quit any unused applications.
Sign out of an application if it's not working, and sign back in.
Move closer to your internet router if you are experiencing connectivity issues.
Turn off any accessibility features i.e., contrast mode, special cursor that may be set on the Chromebook. These can cause applications to run slow.
