A Message From Dr. Hawley
Dear families,
January is flying by! We only have two more weeks until the end of the first semester and we will have completed half of the school year. Information about parent-teacher conferences will be coming home in the next week. You will have the option to choose an in-person or a Zoom conference.
We are excited to welcome back our remote learners who will be starting in-person on February 1st. Classroom teachers will be sending information out to remote learners who are returning in-person about what supplies students will need when they return. You will also receive a letter from the bus garage asking if your child will need to ride the bus to school.
Tonight, your child will be bringing extra food home since we do not have school on Monday. Students will receive the food since everyone in the district receives free lunch and breakfast. There will be instructions on how to prepare the food.
Have a great weekend!
Barb Hawley
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ARE FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!
Chromebook Donation!
The halls of Brimfield Elementary School have been filled with excitement ever since four new Chromebook carts, packed with the latest technology, arrived. Thanks to a group of teachers and staff who were willing to put in the extra hours, it only took a few days to get the devices up and running. This new acquisition was made possible thanks to the generosity of a member of the Falcon community. Mr. Robert “Bob” Honeychuck donated the funds to make this much needed project a reality.
When Mr. Honeychuck’s wife Maryann passed away, he chose to honor her memory by supporting the things she loved most; teaching (Maryann taught at Suffield Elementary for 30 years), her students, and Field. This is not the first time Mr. Honeychuck has had an impact on the Field Local Schools, as donations to Suffield Elementary have provided technology opportunities that would likely not have been possible without his help.
The new technology project at Brimfield allows computers to be easily transported from classroom to classroom. In addition, new software has been installed, which allows students to practice what they've learned independently, through the use of games and hands-on programs. In a time when technology is more important than ever, Field's elementary students now have access to newer and more advanced equipment than anyone thought possible. So, from all the staff and students in the Field Local Schools, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Honeychuck. Your contributions will be felt for many years to come.

Zoom Clarification for In-Person Learners
If your child has COVID symptoms or is exposed to someone at home with COVID symptoms, and cannot attend school, please notify the office immediately.
A student with COVID symptoms is not required to login to class to live stream if he or she is ill; however, you have the option of having your child live stream if you feel that your child is feeling well enough to be online. If they feel well enough and will be logging in, please let your child’s teacher know so that the teacher will let him/her into the Zoom session.
If your child is quarantining they are expected to be logging into all of the classroom Zoom sessions throughout the day. If your child is home on quarantine and cannot log in for any reason, you should call your child off school like you would any other day. If you have any questions please let me know.
If your child is off of school for anything not "COVID" related, he/she will not be permitted to join a Zoom session.

Counselor's Corner
1/15/2021
Hello Field Families!
In our next month's Character Development lessons we are going to be talking about identity and diversity. It is important for student social emotional development to learn, explore, and understand their own identity for greater self acceptance. Students who have a greater grasp on their identity have higher self esteem and have better resiliency. It is also crucial for students to learn about the diversity in all of our identities. Will will discuss how awesome it is that we are all different and that our differences should be celebrated! I encourage you to talk to your child about these things as well. My school counseling website will have links to resources for you to check out and utilize soon!
Also please check out my website to sign up for coffee with the counselor and or to contact me for your child's needs! School Counselor's Corner

IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Being Late for Live Streaming
Please make sure your child is logging into Zoom on time for each live streaming session. Your child will not be let into the Zoom session if they are more than 5 minutes late and they will be marked absent. We are having issues with too many students logging in late after the teacher has started teaching. If you think your child may be late or is having technical issues, please call the office and the office can notify the teacher to let your child in. Your child will then be marked as tardy. We appreciate your help with this!

Remote Learner Helpful Hints
1. Absence: If you know your child will be absent from one of their online classes, please call the office at 330-673-8581(select the call off line option) or send an email to Betsy.Dalziel@fieldlocalschools.org to report their absence. If your child is absent due to a doctor appointment, please email or fax the doctor's note to Mrs. Dalziel. Our fax number is 330-677-2519. This way the absence can be coded as an excused medical absence.
2. Online class links: When joining your online class, click on your link 1 to 2 minutes before the class starts (NO SOONER). At the start of class, teachers will see your child in their waiting room and have them join the class. If you are waiting for an extended period of time, try refreshing and clicking on the link again. Please do not wait to enter a classroom for an extended period of time. You can call the office at 330-673-8581 for assistance.
3. Technical Support: If you are having Chromebook issues not related to your internet connection you can send an email to Remotelearning@fieldlocalschools.org and someone will respond to your request.

Specials
Hello Online Learners,
We wanted you to know that you should be completing an Art, Music, P.E., and Technology assignment every week. We are adding new assignments to our Google Classroom every week on Tuesday. Some weeks you might have an activity to complete and turn in and other weeks you might have an activity to complete but nothing to turn in. We understand that everyone is working hard this year so we are trying to keep our assignments under 15 minutes or a total of about 60 minutes a week for the four of us. If you need ungraded Library or Counselor activities click on their bitmoji and see the resources they have provided for your children. You should have received an invitation to join the Specialist Google Classroom at the beginning of the year.
