The ACTS Group
June Update
From the Director
This is a season of graduations. My oldest son graduated last week. The commencement at William Jessup took place May 2. Many other graduations will happen this month. One of those will be the ACTS Group’s graduation into being a non-profit organization. Not familiar with the story? Let me share it with you. This ministry is called the ACTS Group and I have had the privilege of being the organizing leader over the last two and one half years. Click here to read more.
It is now time for the ACTS Group to move from developing within Jessup to working autonomously as a 501c3 in the region while remaining in a positive partnership with Jessup. ACTS Group’s graduation to 501c3 will take place in July. This move will allow the broad implementation of the initiatives and services ACTS Group is engaged in that go beyond the core educational purpose of the university. In the core, the ACTS Group is a mission organization that is coordinating united Christian initiatives that demonstrate and communicate the love of Jesus Christ across the Greater Sacramento region. I hope you will rejoice with me in the vital role that William Jessup University has played in facilitating ACTS Group into operational reality and pray with me in this new phase of organizational development.
Together for the Gospel –
Jeff Kreiser, Executive Director of the ACTS Group
Prayer
Summer 2015 will be a summer of prayer. SacramentoPRAYS is promoting a daily prayer effort throughout the region from June 14 to August 14 to increase and connect thousands more believers in prayer in their churches, in their neighborhoods and around their schools. Daily prayer opportunities will be posted in the SacramentoPRAYS social media and online calendar, as well as directly to the almost 2000 people who receive the bi-monthly newsletter. Equipping and training sessions and workshops are planned. Please be aware and be engaged as we pray boldly for God to be increasingly recognized and honored, and for his goodness to lead all people to leave behind empty and destructive ways to follow the good way of his son Jesus Christ.
Service
Serve Sacramento had a great time celebrating the regions fourth Season of Service on May 22nd at a Rivercats Game! Representatives from the Elk Grove Food Bank, Twin Lakes Food Bank and Orangevale Food Bank came to collect food items as fans came into the ballpark. The Rivercats Chaplain and several players spoke to service leaders about the role faith plays in their lives and work. Service leader Joe Talancon threw the first pitch and members of the MLK Celebration choir sang the national anthem. THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate this season of service with us!
Leaders
Convergence Conversation talks were filmed on May 15, focusing on school partnerships and neighborhood outreach. These videos will be added to those filmed in February as the Convergence Conversation podcast and radio program on KFIA is launched in July. The idea of bringing leading believers together into collaborative relationships has been at the center of the ACTS Group work since the beginning, and Convergence Conversation is making it possible to touch hundreds more leaders with key ideas, inspiration and information from those making a difference in our region. Convergence Conversation and Q Commons are our two marquee events that create the place and platform for leaders to connect. Mark your calendar now for the next Q Commons coming up on Thursday night, September 24, 2015.
ACTS Group Endorsement
Kevin Palau, President of the Luis Palau Association
“It has been my pleasure to continue to be in touch with festival chair Scott Hanson and other key leaders about a sustainable gospel movement in the Sacramento area. It is always our intention from the Palau Association to see the festival as a continuation and a catalyst for God’s work in a region. We are glad to see that, the ACTS Group, Advancing City Transformation Strategies, is committed to fostering and promoting effective strategies like the Season of Service and encouraging the strength of unity movements like City Pastors Fellowship. As the Palau Association, we are committed to supporting the ACTS Group through resourcing of expertise, networking, mutual encouragement, and contributions through William Jessup. Let me encourage you to continue to remain engaged and find your way to build upon what God accomplished through the festival season by supporting the work of the ACTS Group.”
