Veteran Celebrations
Please help our schools honor our many heroes in the upcoming weeks:
Elizabeth High School
The EHS Student Council will celebrate veterans and active duty military during Warrior Week, November 11-15. Customized yard signs will be staked along County Road 13 in front of EHS featuring pictures and information about our patriots. Please email a picture and short description of a veteran or active duty military friend/family member to Delaney McCleish by Friday, November 8th.
Elizabeth Middle School
EMS students are writing thank you letters to veterans and collecting any/all unwanted candy for the Halloween Candy Give Back program for enlisted service members and veterans. Candy donations can be dropped off at the main office.
Singing Hills Elementary School
Friday, November 8
8:30am in Gym
Special recognition assembly to include a presentation of the United States Armed Forces flags led by our veterans and military personnel, the Presentation of Colors led by local Boy Scout pack 747, along with guest speakers, a performance of Taps, displayed military artifacts, and breakfast for our guests of honor. Local veterans are welcome to join in the celebration. Those attending are encouraged to dress in patriotic colors: red, white, and blue.
Running Creek Elementary School
Monday, November 11
7:55am (after morning announcements) in Gym
Special recognition assembly to recognize RCE family members who have served or are currently serving in the military, with local scouts leading the Presentation of Colors. Coffee and pastries served afterwards for the special guests of honor.
EHS XCountry at State
The EHS cross country teams recently competed in the state 3A championships. Seniors John Flipse and Jacob States, both individual state qualifiers two years in a row, competed in their final high school cross country race, while Thomas Yates and Jesse Thompson were excited to be among the top finishers in the state's unified race.
After qualifying five runners in the top 20 at the regional meet, Ell Hedman helped the Lady Cardinal team take 14th place at state. Other team runners at state included Masen Loeks, Jordyn Thompson, Gianna Spangler, Emily Gertie, Tana Johnson, and Caela Benkendorf.
