Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
We are looking forward to our PTO Back to School Bash tonight in the field just north of the school. We are thankful to our PTO for planning events like this for our students. The PTO will be funding the inflatables, DJ, and family games for all families to enjoy. There will be food and face painting available for an extra cost. Only cash will be accepted.
Now that we are nearing the end of the first month of school, your children may have more homework than they had during the first weeks of school. If homework time is a struggle at your house, this article, may provide some helpful suggestions. We do not want homework to be a major source of stress for your family. If you have tried some things at home to improve the situation and things are not going well, reach out to your child’s teacher for help as he or she is unable to fix a problem they aren’t aware that your child is having.
Student safety is always on our minds at Lions Park. One area where I believe we can do better as a school community is during our drop-off and pick-up times. The location of our school next to a large park is a benefit in many ways, but it makes for a very congested arrival and dismissal. We have many staff members outside each day to help things run well, but we also need your help. Please follow the signs around the school. I know it can be very tempting to pull into an illegal parking spot for just a moment, but this can then cause other drivers to drive erratically to get around you and then pose a safety risk to students and their families. If you are dropping off your child in a "kiss and go" on Council, School, or in the parking lot, please drop your child off curbside only. We have seen a couple of close calls when a child was attempting to cross a lane of traffic. It is also best to avoid walking through the parking lot. Following these guidelines keeps our students safe and sets a good example for them about how to be good citizens.
We will have Picture Day on Wednesday, September 21st. Each class will have a time to come and get their picture taken in the front hallway. There will be a picture retake day for those who are absent.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
Principal
