Hotchkiss Fairgrounds: Ag Day! We’ll be learning about animals,farm products, & agricultural communities…. Look for permission forms in this week’s Friday Folder; please sign & return! Thank you!

Thursday, May 9th: Field Trip: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Crawford State Park.
Friday, May 17th: Field Trip: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Montrose Rec. Center * Please note: We won’t be arriving back at school until c. 4:30 p.m.: Please plan for a late pick up, at the school, on this date!
Fri., May 24th : Last Day of School
Pioneer Days (w/ fireworks over Crawford Reservoir) = Thursday through Saturday, June 6 - 8, 2024. They have a fun, old-fashioned auction on the Friday night before (6/7), so consider donating to that (or attending… or both); the proceeds -> the fireworks display. Math:
early: new concept: 10 more or 10 less; review: bead frames for + & -
intermediate: new concepts: “Array City” for X facts & golden bead frame for long X
advanced: new concepts: real-life triangle scenarios/area: tiling/area of six-sided polygons that decompose -> rectangles
Geometry (all): Challenge: working in pairs: area, perimeter, & attributes of various rectangles, & identifying equivalent & congruent rectangles, based on measured area / perimeter
Language:
New concepts: mechanics: antonyms… formulaic language: proverbs; review: grammar: pronouns
Writing:
Animals & their biomes: adaptations: cause & effect, compare/contrast
Reading:
Wrapping up concepts from this quarter
Cultural: Field Trip (Ag Day)
