Nitrogen
Looking for my pair!
Occupation:
I work for organisms to make amino acids, which are used to build proteins and nucleic acids, which combine to form DNA and RNA. I guess you could say I'm an amino acid maker by day-trogen and making up 78% of the Earth's atmosphere by Ni-trogen.
Hobbies:
I enjoy traveling. My favorite places include soil, waste, and dead and decaying matter. I also enjoy long walks on the beach. I can be found in my dissolved form in the ocean and other large bodies of water.
I think this picture shows my true sense of humor and A+ personality.
Some soil bacteria get energy from converting nitrates into nitrogen gas, which is released into the atmosphere in a process called denitrification. Nitrogen (that's me) is also added to the bioshpere through the manufacture and use of fertilizers.
Decomposers release me (Nitrogen) from waste and dead organisms as ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites that producers may take up again.
I've suffered a broken heart many times. I need to find someone who won't break me or use me
Certain types of bacteria in the soil and on roots use Nitrogen from the air and convert it to ammonia, in a process known as Nitrogen fixation.
Consumers eat the producers and reuse me (Nitrogen) to make their own nitrogen-containing compounds.
