Why are you running for this office and what is your vision for our organization?
My vision for IAHPERD is to help get more physical educators to be aware of the such a great organization. I am a recent member of IAHPERD and love the contacts and connection I have made in my recent two years. If we can get more people involved it will only make our program stronger at the state and national levels.
I have solidified my calling and passion to be a physical education teacher who makes a positive difference in the lives of the students. I would love to help make a positive impact in such an important field I am passionate in. Being a part of this organization will help me grow into a better person and teacher for the students’ in my school and life.
Any other comments that you would like to add…..
Beyond my five years of teaching in Camanche, I’ve had the privilege to work with students in multiple venues: coaching high school girl’s basketball, high school girl’s and boy’s golf, umpiring, golf lessons, and basketball camps. Through all of these experiences, one thing has been constant: my love for teaching and making a difference in students’ lives. Not everyone may have the same excitement for physical activity/education, but everyone can be motivated to improve themselves. Physical education in school is vitally important as it sets the stage for students to make healthy decisions throughout their lifetimes. I am teacher who works positively with students and work to have each student leave my class with a greater appreciation for physical activity, as well as themselves.

Matthew Klundt - Student Candidate for IOWA AHPERD Board - 1 year term
My name is Matt Klundt a junior at Iowa Wesleyan University, and am interested in the student position for the IAHPERD Council. I attended the IAPHERD state convention this past June in Oskaloosa and have also attended one national convention. Pleasant home-schooled students and to the students at the REC Center After School Program.
I also gained information at convention for personal training and have helped with course work regarding the FMS System and…….. I have also competed in CrossFit competitions with teammates and we have improved scores during each competition. Our goal has been to improve and support each other. It has been exciting getting to know other participating teams of three as well supporting their teams.
I am a junior and due to my double major, health minor and coaching endorsement, I will graduate in December of 2017.
Thank you for your consideration.
