Principal's Message
Today's newsletter includes three main topics:
- School Handbook - You'll find a link to this year's school handbook and details about how to provide your electronic acknowledgment.
- Health and Safety Updates - This week focuses on in person learning and the plan for responding to a positive COVID case at school.
- Alta Vista Home & School Club News - There is a link to the monthly newsletter and details about this year's fundraising drive.
Don't forget that tonight is Back to School Night for all of our first through fifth grade families. The teachers are looking forward to meeting you (virtually) and sharing their plans for the year.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best,
Cathy Bailey
ALTA VISTA SCHOOL HANDBOOK
Here are a few of the topics that you will want to take note of:
- Birthday Celebrations (page 12) - Due to COVID, we are not allowing any food treats on campus, but your child is welcome to share a non-food treat with the class.
- Cell Phones and Smart Watches (page 12) - If your child brings a cell phone or smart watch to school, review the guidelines and complete the district-required permission slip.
- Remind (page 18) - If you haven't already done so, sign up to receive Remind text messages from Alta Vista.
- Bicycles and Scooters (page 24) - Our policies regarding bicycles and scooters have changed this year. Please be sure to review it with your child and complete our Bicycle/Scooter contract.
After you have read through the handbook and discussed section two with your child, you will need to complete this simple acknowledgment form (https://bit.ly/AVHandbookAcknowledgment). We ask that this is done by Friday, August 27th. Thank you.
USD HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATES
In Person Learning and Responding to a COVID+ Case at School
We know that learning in person is essential for our students and as such, we will need to continue to be diligent and do our part as a community to adhere to requirements and health orders for schools set by the CA Department of Public Health and local health officials. Watch the webinar and learn more about how our schools respond to a positive covid case, and what you as parents and guardians will need to do to assist in keeping our students healthy and our classrooms open.
