Week 27: March 4-8, 2024
ASA G. HILLIARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
I have never encountered any children in any group who are not geniuses. There is no mystery on how to teach them. The first thing you do is treat them like human beings and the second thing you do is love them. -Asa Hilliard
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
HI PANTHER FAMILIES ❤️
This past week has brought such joy to my heart being able to watch our students perform inside and outside of the classroom, name our Teacher of the Year and fellowship with many of you at our community engagement event this weekend! I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing Panther family and my hope is that you feel the same also. We are geared up for a marvelous month of March and we know we will see great results from our work. As we discussed last week, the month of March brings on the smell of spring break and we are prepared to keep our students engaged in meaning instruction daily. As partners, please help us at home by reinforcing our positive behavior system and making sure your child is here daily. Remember if a student is present for the remaining 52 days of the school year, you will be entered into a raffle for a 52 inch TV! As always, let us know how we can support.

District Perception Survey-Please Complete
Dear Parent/Guardian,
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Monday, February 12 through Friday, March 15. To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/annualparentsurvey or scan the link below with a smartphone. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!

As a reminder all fifth grade fees ($75) are due on March 15th by 2pm. Also we will be dancing the evening away at our fifth grade dance on March 28th at 5pm in our school gymnasium. We look forward to celebrating with each of you.
Volunteers Needed...Career Day
Greetings Panther Families,
It is that time of year again, Career Day is rapidly approaching, and we are looking for volunteers to talk to our students about their career. This is a fantastic way to provide them with firsthand knowledge of potential career paths. You will have an opportunity to get involved at AGHES and to make an impact on our students. We will have two different opportunities for you to present; either in the classroom OR if your career involves a vehicle you can present in our Careers on Wheels Car Show. If you are not interested but know someone who is, please give them (or us) the necessary contact information. The 2024 Asa G. Hilliard Elementary Career Day is Friday, March 15th from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. You can sign up directly using the RSVP below. Please contact Ms. Black at 470-254-9731 or 678-294-4403 with any questions or concerns.

Sessions start September 30th from 10 am-12 pm, If interested you can click on English or Spanish and complete the enrollment forms.”
Literacy Parent Units
As you know, parent involvement is vital to your child’s academic success, which is why I am so excited to introduce a new learning tool to help enhance what is being taught in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, we will be unveiling a series of parent units for you to complete so you are better able to help support early literacy development at home.
These self-paced experiences, called Parent Units, are no more than 20 minutes from start to finish to complete. In the units, an easy-to-replicate strategy is provided for you to use at home. Each Parent Unit will launch monthly one at a time and will focus on different topics. We are kicking off the series with Unit 1 focusing on Oral Language.
I encourage you to take the time to complete these fun learning units, which can be found at the bottom of our school’s website and on the district website https://www.fultonschools.org/parentunits. Plus, parents will have the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each unit!
Thank you for sharing your student with us. We look forward to partnering with you to give them the best education Fulton County Schools has to offer.
